Best I could get vid wise, your car is very quite with the full exhaust.

Also in the middle of a VE tune so forget stable idle when warm. It makes funny little noise but I think that may be random misfires due to the mid tune I'm in.

So after all that arguing over the jackshaft, scd88ga, you learned something new. It doesn't fit a 3400 and this trans. Pics to come.

Yeah, I posted a picture of one bolted to a 3400 V6 and a Getrag 282 trans... So if it doesn't work, what are doing wrong?

You said this...
1988GTU wrote:IIRC that jack shaft will not fit the old rear engine mount bracket design. It can be made to work with a custom engine mount bracket though.
This is correct, that jack shaft will not fit the old rear engine mount bracket design! You don't need a custom bracket though, you need the engine bracket from the 94 Z24 with does work with that jack shaft, being they are from the same car... Also, Robert's 89 Beretta, and a 94 Z24 use the same exact motor mount!

Go sell them to someone on the cavalier boards is my suggestion... Maybe you can get back some of the lost dollars.

They fit here just fine! (3400/Getrag 282) So unless your trans is some strange model, then I don't know what to say! The only problem I could see is that you had the aluminum encased jack shaft originally, and that removing that and then installing a seal in it's place on the trans case didn't work! Oh well, if that's the case, I'm not the one that told him it would work by doing that...

I test fitted the shaft without the seal in place, I cant put the bracket in place it hits the block and wants to push the axle back and put pressure on it.

Tell me what I'm doing wrong and I'll try it again saturday but if you look at this it doesn't fit.

Pics are uploading

Could it be modified to fit, yeah probably, but I'm not about to do that IN the car, I would have rather done that outside of the car to make sure that the axle shaft was still loose fitting and not under load.

That picture you keep posting Brett, were you there when that engine combo was put together or removed? do you know what was done to that bracket? it could have been tweaked to fit somehow.

Bottom is hitting the block

Top of the bracket is about 1/4 away from the block and I can't press it against the block without it pre-loading the axle backwards and that's going to wreck the diff.
