Lowest miles is the best. I left a link for you on the swap in your topic "3400 for swap".

Carson's "blackout" issue is only because of himself and not having the proper knowledge to troubleshoot the harness or what he may have screwed up during the swap...

If your starting with a 3100, his engine will run perfectly fine as long as you use your accessories and sensors and such.

3100 to 3400 swap is simple... Take the motor down to it's bare essentials... and the most you may need to swap is the timing cover so you can bolt your motor mount and alternator bracket to the side of it, And then just make sure you use all your sensors and vac lines so everything ends up in the right are to plug it all in.

There is also this... Specific to a Grand Am, but still applies

Also being a 1995, you'll need an EGR adapter from WOT-Tech.com the one you need obviously depends on what year motor you are using.

This is the one.

I'm am using this one on my car and am very happy with it. Be sure to get the gaskets that are listed.
What year is the 3400? A 2000 upper will flow better. As you can see that adapter is for the 2000+ only. I can tell you how to swap the 3100 TB linkage into the 3400 TB, so that you don't have to change cables.

Well, I'm inexperienced and the mechanic who's swapping doesn't believe it can be done but I've convinced him, however he's going to need detailed instrustions and some stuff just isn't on the 3400 swap writeup from 3400swap.com if you could make a short sweet to-the-point writeup for it, I'd be much obliged, to the point of paying you. Unless you'd do it out of the kindness of your heart, then thats cool too =D

I can only help with the TB. I just have 3400 intakes on my 3100. Looks like Carson is going to keep the engine. What are you going to do now?

Simple... Take your 3100 out, take ALL the accessories and brackets and sensors off of it... do the same with the 3400 and then put all your brackets and sensors on the 3400. The other items you may want to swap to ensure comparability is the oil pan to get the low oil sensor and the timing cover to make sure that there isn't that extra stud for the idler pulley that would be in the way of the side motor mount.
