If anyone on here kills bearings its me. Had a stock rear bearing go bad, replaced it with some cheap ass crap ones. They were both loose within 11k miles. Then I said screw this, ill drop the money for timkins. Waste of money, I had one loosen up in 6k miles. SO i went to the yard and got a used one off a 3rd gen cavalier with over 100k and it has been great ever since.

As for front bearings, I had 2 get loose, and broke another. It separated just like cliff's picture. Luckily the wheel didn't come off, but it F-ed up my axle, abs sensor, etc.

I always have best luck with used junkyard bearings with a million miles on them, parts store stuff sucks.

Nbody bearings aren't going to work with my big azz brakes. I could make the switch over to Nbody brakes, but I'm kind of beyond that investment at this point.

The current plan is to drop the cash on some new wheel bearings tomorrow night, put em on saturday and align it monday... Going with National brand. I'm getting them in town to put the timeline in my favor, but on RA they retail for like $10-12 more than Timken. We'll see how they hold up, I have a feeling ACDelco could be a future purchase.

Even if it's brokefest, that's better than riding shotgun.

Keep your crap bearings and do a home alignment, then spend saved funds on keystone light.

I have had a squeaky wheel bearing for months now. Damn, I wanted to get that replaced before I left...

Too bad you would have to make it to indy first but I would do the alignment. National you should be happy with.

And I didn't think that N-body bearings would work, I was simply stating to Geoff why possibly his have not failed like yours are...

FYI: Timkin does not actually make their wheel bearings. Read the box, it says something along the line of "Timkin parts are sourced from select manufactures"

All I know is the front Timkens I put in last summer are holding up so far, 6k and going.

Autoparts as a whole seem to be epic fail lately... Never have we ever had a problem till A1 Auto changed its supplier for Impala brake rotors... Last night on some cheap Chinese crap, or Mexico crap, we sheared the rotor off of the hub on the race car... It only has two races on it and typically we will get 3-4 races before moving that rotor to the Left front to lift the rest of its life.

You get what you pay for but those ass hats making the decisions on who's producing stuff will never accept that.

been like that for awhile seems no one gives a crap about quality they all just want to line there pockets.

same thing with the gas prices there is no need for it to as high as it is but you bet you ass they will post record profits again.

Yeah i have the N-body brakes as well and they are holding up. Although, i just installed new Timkens on the front for a malibu so i will see how they hold up. My original ones, i got from napa (their own brand) and they lasted over 6 years and 35k miles. I was unsure about the nationals, guess i will have to give them a try

Going back on topic: I have to change my oil, wash the car, check all the fluids, adjust my left rear brake, wipe down the inside and possibly change out my front left fender for one thats not all messed up. Also want to move my oil pressure gauge to the new pillar pod i just bought and get it off the damn steering column.

I've got new wheel bearings. Precision brand. I was thinking O'Reilly carried National, but I was wrong.

A rehash of an earlier statement, replacing them again in a couple years is better than riding shotgun!

I got everything on my Z fixed! Its ready to go, I love the mix of factory black interior parts and the stock grey in there.. its got a nice two tone going for it.

.. It seems when the body shop put the front end together that they did something different with the foglights.
Usually you can get the foglight lens out through the front right? Thats how it was. But now I cant get the screw thats towards the center of the bumper, its literally behind the bumper cover. I tapped the foglight housing with the handle of a screwdriver and it came back on for a bit, so its definitely a bad ground. I just dont have the time to remove the whole bumper cover for that.. odd for sure..

Summat, that's how they are supposed to be. Mine has always been like that, they are supposed to drop out from either above or below, depending on preference.

Some remove the headlight housing to get to them (too much work for me, not to mention you could alter your light alignment) but the simple way is to just drop the bottom plastic panel skirt and poof, instant access. Providing of course the screws holding the plastic panel up are not rusted to crap.
