No. The tensioner is located below the alternator area (the pulley that is near the top back of the engine, right near the firewall) Follow that down and you will find the tensioner below and slightly forward.. The water pump is the most forward upper pulley, has a smooth side, the belt goes around it upside down with the ribs facing out (bottom side of the pulley). There are 4 bolts that hold the pulley to the pump. You need to crack those loose while the belt is on, so it doesn't move on you. Once they are cracked loose, then you need to remove the belt as described earlier.

Here is a quick pic to give you an idea where to be looking:

That should give you an idea where to look.

Yeah I was wondering if I had to crack the pulley bolts first before taking the belt off I thought I had to take those off after the belt was off though this is where I'm confused

Well, are you still confused? Cause yes, you were correct. You have to crack the bolts loose, then remove the belt before taking the bolts all the way out.

Same way you got it off. I usually get the belt all into position on the other pulleys, leaving the alternator last to get the belt. Then have someone help me with it, by either moving the tensioner for me while I put the belt in place, or have them slide the belt carefully onto the alternator pulley while I move the tensioner. Then its done.

Okay so taking skirt will give me access to the tensioner? Do I need to support the car at all?

Yes it will and no you don't need to. But lifting it some with a jack it may make it easier to get under there.

I usually do the tensioner from above, but it can be easier for some from beneath. I have done it that way too. Don't need to remove the wheel, but turn it toward the right, so you can get in there easy.

Read my post above. I've explained this SEVERAL times now. The tensioner just needs to be rotated to take slack off of the belt.

Honestly, I'm not trying to be an ass, but if you don't even know what the SBT (Serpentine Belt Tensioner) is or how to use it, maybe you shouldn't attempt this repair yourself.

Uh I do know what a tensioner is I was just making sure I had my facts straight as working on this thing seems a lot more complicated then other engines as EVERYTHING I read online says I need to take the motor mount off to take the belt off and I don't wanna use a 2x4 and potentially rely on a piece of wood to hold my engine in place so that's why I'm asking if it is possible I may just take it to a shop once again as apparently I'm an idiot who's a poor college student who's trying to save some money as these repairs are getting costly sorry to have you explain it to me a zillion times I just wanna make sure I have everything down the way it is cause I thought your only option was taking the motor mount off I do know what a belt tensioner is as I just had it replaced along with the belt.

Of course the online thing you read that to take the belt OFF the engine would require the mount to be removed. But you are not taking it off the engine, you are just going to loosen it enough to take it off the water pump pulley so you can remove the water pump itself. The online thing you read does not distinguish between the two. lol

As for other tools, just make sure you have some metric sockets and wrenches, probably a flat bladed screw driver as well. I think all the pulley and pump bolts are 10mm, but as I have never replaced mine, I can't say for sure.

Yeah. I have 233k on my water pump. Still going fine for some reason. I have replaced the A/C bearing, the PS pump, the Alternator 3 times, the belt twice, and the tensioner once. That is all during the entire life of the car so far. Crazy.

Yeah nothings been replaced on this car coolant system wise untill 103k. Which is now the radiator cracked the upper hose and now the water pump. The compressor was seized last week it never ends. :(

Well.... I dunno what you want me to say. I've stated the same thing OVER AND OVER again, trying to help you. I even broke it down to NUMBERED STEPS and you STILL sound confused. So don't blame me for thinking you don't have a clue OR expect an apology because you can't master reading step by step instructions and INSIST on asking the same thing REPEATEDLY, even when told the answer repeatedly. Don't expect an apology or sympathy either because you're a "poor broke college" kid. We're ALL broke these days.....

Maybe you could lose the Smart Phone with 3g or 4g, and cut costs. :D

Ease up on the personal attack there SGR, Forum rules..... that last statement was a bit un necessary, although I agree with some of your post.

First off, BUY A HAYNES manual and read on how to do this.

Here is a picture of where the tensioner is and slight belt routing path, missing there is the PS pump and the AC compressor.

If you do not understand what needs to be done after seeing this, then do not attempt it and bring your car to a shop or have a friend with a bit more experience lend you a hand. If you have trouble visualizing things and putting 2 and 2 together then you should not be using a forum to help you, you need hands on help. I will not respond to a post that says "Help I removed my belt and now I can't get it back on!"

Also this is as much as you can see with the splash guard removed so don't expect that to solve it all, and you only need to remove the motor mount to remove the belt... which you are not doing.
