alright so otherwise if its not the door and is the firewall area what would i do to stop it? because if i try one spot like starting at the door then ill seal it let it dry and take the hose or power sprayer to the car if its not there i will try letting a bit of water into the area around the firewall and if it does not leak out then i can use the wet vac to suck the water out. but i still have to pull my driverside interior out so i can get the water that is under the carpet and the rubber.but i really dont want to do that til i find the leak because i dont want to have to pull out my interior every other day. and with this MI weather you never know when there will be rain. But thank you. this is why i love this forum.

Mine was leaking along the cowl to firewall seam and along the firewall to strut tower seam where the water drains out of the cowl. I sealed mine up with roofing sealant, but i've also heard that Plastidip also works. It's a rubberized undercoating-like material.

If I had to do it again probably would have tried the Plastidip first. However I did completely stop mine using the roofing stuff, it was just annoying because of the awkwardness of the caulk gun. I had my carpet and under dash pieces out while I was looking for my leak, so it was much easier to find and test.

well its gonna be hard to take it all out again when its my only car to drive other than jking18's but he doesnt like me driving his car. haha. but i would rather drive my car. i think it may have been the leak that i repaired the otherday on the door because it has not had anymore water other than whats already under the carpet which i have to get to before it rusts a hole through the bottom of my car. although i will say it is a tough car it was sitting for over a year with water on the carpet and was not rusted under it. but my seat brackets were rusted to crap.

It's not a simple thing to fix... you need to dedicate some time to it otherwise you'll just be chasing it forever.... I noticed mine was still leaking on the passenger side, ended up being my fresh air vent, now that's sealed and I have no leaks but while I had my motor out last year I just ripped all of the sealent they put in out since its all old. I replaced it all with Napa firewall sealant, the right stuff to use. I did all around the brake booster and down the strut tower seam where the cowl drains as described above as well as the top of where that booster reinforcement attaches and on the other side of the cowl to direct the water down to that drain.

I'm glad I did this because in the process I was blowing dirt and paint flakes out from behind the booster so there was something leaking in there and I have probably stopped it. Granted my car being garaged and not seeing winter will also prevent any future rust, but its nice to know I can take it in the rain and not get water where it shouldn't be.

well i just started working so have only got 4 hours in so it will take a little time but i will get it done sooner rather than later. dont like it when she leaks. but im going out to wax her and get her ready to be driven for the first time in a long time tomorrow. cant wait to see how she does.

Get a car cover its a cheap easy way to prevent some of the leaking for the mean time.

alright we have the one for the mustang thats not being used right now and was told i could use it if i wanted to. it will be big but i can find something to hold it down.

so i got my plate and tag today and whats pretty cool it the last 2 numbers on my plate are 90. haha. well tomorrow will be the big test to see weather she can make it 12 miles to work tomorrow then 12 miles back. also i need a new gauge cluster because mine is not working, or atleast half of each gauge is not working well enough where i cant reed my tach or anything. but my oil pressure and everything is working but weather its right i dont know.

have looked at this but dont like paying for something that they have no ideal if it still works after sitting for 11 years. and no way to test it. but if i cant find something on here that i trust then i will look into it. because its a bit expensive for something that may not work. other wise i may just send mine in to have it fixed. just dont want mine out for that long. but i checked ebay first but thank you.
