Old mounting to the beretta guys but all the gen 2 and one cavis use these mountings the only difference in the mounting is between auto and five speed cars the mounts are 5/8 inch shorter or longer depending on the application

On this beretta does the rear engine mount sit in front or behind where the jack shaft bracket would bolt onto the engine?
And robert with this 94 jackshaft and bracket im assuning he means the clamshell? you can easily make your money back on these two parts if needed ive sold just that bracket before for 30 shipped just a fyi, Has to be a manual bracket though

Exactly, but who's to say there are no differences between a 87-94 J body 5spd mount and a 87-91 L body 5spd mount.

Im not positive on that so i cant say for sure the way to tell is look on a beretta bracket and see if it say manaul or auto. but this is irrelevent so my mistake it just depends on if it sits in front or behind the bracket that might make up the difference so it would not be pushing on the diff maybe???

There are p/n's and if its manual trans it has M/T on the mount. I have learned this the hard way.
I can look up Beretta p/n's but not the J body.

The mount is not the issue, I'll get a better picture of the cast part Scott because i thought that at first too but wasnt sure if its just the block in the way thats making it look different or not. The top of the cast part is slightly thinner on the bolt side, not block side, as well which allows the mount bracket to sit OVER that JUST as the original aluminum bracket setup is. If I were to put the mount below it then it wouldn't sit flush, thats not how it's designed to work.
They couldn't have changed the rear mounting on this block either because the 3500 changes are the reasons I avoided it with my 4t60e and I have an 05 3400 engine and that fits my 4t60e just fine. Also since the original bracket and jackshaft fit just fine I think it's something else that's different.
I'm almost wondering if Scott is right in saying its an OLDER 282 and the axle output may be in a slightly different spot... I have no idea since this is the first 5-speed I have touched, but I can do measurments, so if anyone can give me an axle center line from the rear bottom block to trans bolt I can compare to see if they diff is placed slightly closer or not.
And to clear some other things up this is a 100% original 5-speed car, not converted, all mounts original other than poly filled or swapped for poly but nothing has been moved or changed.
The mount bracket that Brett sent is the same design as whats in there, it has a different number and says Manual or M on it I cant remember, but that may be due to year's when it came out.

They never changed the trans. You can bolt a NVG (1994) bellhousing onto a older getrag with no bearing issues. The diff rides on a bearing in the bellhousing so there is no way it moved.
Honestly I have never seen that cast bracket you have there on a v6. My jackshaft is from a 1994 cavalier. My trans is from a 1993 beretta, and it had the same shaft on it but I left it at the JY because I already had one...

Barry your jackshaft bracket was steel? Is that what you're saying? Because mine is too...not cast.

Yes, that's what he's trying to say, lol
The cast bracket jack shaft was a 94 only part, found on V6 5 speed Cavaliers and Sunbirds with the Getrag 282/NVG trans. The engine bracket I included is also specific to that year and models.

This would indeed need the matched engine bracket. The rear brackets didn't change between autos and manuals on the older models whether it was a Cavi or Beretta (they used the same bracket) - the actual rear mount is what is different, unlike the front where the bracket is different instead of the mount.

Well I said the cast one is a 94 specific part, that doesn't mean they didn't use some of the left over older style ones on early 94's! If all part changes/upgrades done by the car manufacturers coincided with model year changes, my job would be a WHOLE LOT EASIER!
So, like many other situations, that would appear to be the situation with your claim of the old style jack shaft on a 94. It's not BS or out of the ordinary. I deal with things like this on a daily basis. I am surprised though that you have never seen a cast one on a V6. I just sold one, I own another, and posted a picture of a third, and saw a 4th at a yard last week, all were 94 Z24's. I also have the GM part number interchange showing that the cast jack shaft and adjoining engine bracket are 94 specific parts for V6 Manual J bodies.
