2.2 cavalier 5 speeds Never came with a jackshaft... they had a long axle on the passenger side. Barry the 94 jackshaft is Bracket specific you can use a stamed steel bracket on this shaft but the cast Steel "not aluminum" Bracket "like some j body guys have said" is only 94...

EVERY 94 bracket ive seen have been cast

This style was used only on V6 5 speed J bodies in 94, and Quad 4 HO 5 speeds in 94, but do not interchange with each other due to obvious reasons (cast bracket shaped different for the mounting holes). I thought that providing pictures in this thread for both of these would have been sufficient... I guess not... :fool:

Thanks you thank you thank you! I don't know why this is still even being discussed after I have already verified this by photo evidence, and by part number on both parts!

I have been told of a possible variation in the exterior casting of the 3400 block on 02+ engines. This would coincide with my theory of why the jack shaft did not sit flush with the block when Jon test fitted it. It's takes a fairly simple modification to make it work because of this.

I really don't need to be told I'm wrong and to have my knowledge second-guessed when it comes to parts, especially when adequate information has been already provided.

Can we please move on from this now!

Wow guys...

I got it to fit by grinding down the back side of it to clear the block. And I'm using Roberts original engine mount bracket, its the same thing as you sent.

Part Number may be different but that could be due to it being an 89 Mount vs a 94 mount.

It was way easier to see what was going on and ensure that it was only a small clearance issue when I had it up on the lift, I also decided to fully rebuild the carrier and do a new seal and new bearing.

Jon you really went all out and did a wonderful job.

Robert I also found that your purge valve is stuck open so I don't know if you can get just the valve or you have to get the valve and the canister?

I have the feed on the intake capped to get the car to idle properly but the line coming from the purge valve is just hanging out.

We'll check it out tomorrow.

Yes Robert that's the purge valve, if it seperates from the canister.... I don't know if they were one part or not, if they are separate then I have one here that we can try and see if that fixes it.

I only ask this because someone was asking on here for the whole assy once.

This is why I ask

If the valve itself is the same design I don't see why we cant cut it off and glue on the other one I have too... as long as where we have to cut doesn't breach the canister itself.

Now get to bed so you can get here tomorrow and see this pig!
