GTZMAN - the plan is to go to BFEST. I've been to 5 so far, and I've got the vacation time to make it #6 this year.

In terms of what I bought.... at the moment it's nothing but the start of something bigger.

They'll need some work, and some Bilstein inserts, and some Ground Control coilovers. ;)

sounds like you have a bare set of struts then.... Coilovers...... nice :D

Sounds like a good idea.

Indeed. Strut bodies only actually. With the steering arms lowered a bit for better clearance.

One is done and ready for an insert, I'll need to finish the other. :D

I'll be following your coil build. Looks like I might use beretta bodies on my build. Already have pillowball camber plates and springs and hats. Need threaded perches and inserts

We need to trade some notes once I get my crap.

Bought some custom rear coil springs. 800lb/in, should drop the back end just a bit more than the Intrax, and be more than twice as stiff. Should help with the squat. :D

The springs showed up earlier. They are heavy, and stiff, ordered as 800lb/in. The back end of the car is going nowhere. I'll probably end up ordering some Bilstein rear shocks to put on the car at the same time.

Thick azz coils:

Each spring weighs about 14 pounds, I know that's heavier than the springs that are on it. Heh, I guess that's a sprung weight increase by nature. ;)

Looks like the Whitey the other 93 GT is going to have a growing pile of hand me down parts! KYBs and Intrax. Should look hot on crosslaces. :D

Those springs look pretty much identical to mine on white car :) You should also get stiffer bushings.

are these custom made springs or did you get them from a different car?

I was going to ask the same thing.

Don't forget to order one of these for the ride to Bfest this year... lol

Holy poo those are huge... The look as thick or thicker than my Camaro coils!

Couldn't you get something to wedge between the coils also?
To help with squatting down?

I have a set of spring helpers in my rears for when I was at the strip, I actually left them in since it prevents the rear from bottoming out when I have a lot of stuff loaded in there. Thats a quick cheap easy way to try to "help" the issue but its not a good fix since that will only help you in the one department of squat... it wont add any handling since the spring rates don't end up at what you would want. Kurt is taking the time to change the rate and match it with a good set of shocks so his handling change will be much more and also more predictable.

These are a set of 100% custom rear coils. Like a lot of other stuff, I got lucky and stumbled upon these, just waiting for me.

An old school Jbody guy had them on a 92 Z24. Car ran like 15.3 in the 1/4 with a 3.1 5 speed, and collected several SCCA autocross season titles. He also used to run front coilovers, but those were long gone by the time I inquired.

I think I've got Bilstein HD rear shocks lined up for around $100 a piece. 97 Saab 900 uses a very very close rear shock, main thing I know of is that the top stud is 12mm instead of 10, so I'll have some shock mount modding and resleeving to do. No biggie at all for what amounts to bolting in the most badass shocks available. :)

My next major hurdle is finding a Bilstein catalog to order front inserts by dimension. Weba, do you have any part numbers by chance? You can pm me if you'd like.

In the end, ride quality doesn't mean anything to me. This car gets like 5k miles per year, and I'm usually running it pretty hard for those miles. Quite anxious to see the end results, but there's a lot of work to accomplish prior to that.
