Ok do you want to redo your GM one or re-do this chinese one? I can have this one done around here, or if you have the GM one done just send it to me. Also don't forget to send me the injector harness if you want me to fix whats there.Robert 89gt wrote:Ha my wife is going to kill me when i tell her i need a 5 hundred dollar clutch already. If you want send a pm with a price? And yeah that is a shitter about the clutch, I was really hoping for it to be fine so you didn't have to replace it.

Yeah and scratch the alignment tool now since one should come with the new clutch.

If it doesn't come with one, let me know; I have one in my toolbox.

Yeah the dip stick for the trans has always been like that.
Seems like it shouldn't stay in there but it does.
Sorry it's the only one i have. It's been ok since the trans was redone maybe 3xxx miles now.Don't be upset spec sucks.I figured it was trashed.Wish it would have happend from racing though.lol

Don't we all... and then 90% of our issues happen while we are driving to work like a grandma... unless your woody... you break your 5/6-speeds every time you bring them to the track... lolRobert 89gt wrote:Wish it would have happend from racing though.lol

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
Rodney Dickman sells a shim (or you could make your own) that stiffens up the trans dipstick so it actually stays in the hole.
I could take mine off and give you some measurements if you want to make your own and save part cost and shipping time.

Ha. You guys are funny. I've only broken a 5spd, a clutch and a rear end drag racing. And a driveshaft on the street. 6spd has held up fine.

I used 5/6-speed to classify it as every stick you've raced you've broken something.woody90gtz wrote:Ha. You guys are funny. I've only broken a 5spd, a clutch and a rear end drag racing. And a driveshaft on the street. 6spd has held up fine.
I should be working on this some more tonight, getting the garage cleaned up after the un-install and then moving on to full engine teardown and clean up. Ordered Clevite-77 main and rod bearings last night as well as the one wheel bearing he had going bad and I should be getting the crank modified today for the double roller.

Yeah, they're a little rougher than slush boxes.3X00-Modified wrote:I used 5/6-speed to classify it as every stick you've raced you've broken something.

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
Crank modified for the TCE setup.

Slight issue on the timing set though, the side that faces the block has the timing marks, not the side facing out and I can't just reposition the marks to the other side since once flipped 180 the timing mark is on the opposite side of the key way... I sent TCE a PM asking him about this issue.

My crank gear doesn't look like the one below.

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but how do you know that's the side that faces the block? Couldn't it face either way?

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
Because if you face it with the marks out then the chain would be too close to the timing cover and would have cleared the crank snout with NO machining necessary... And the image for the mods needed to the crank show the stepped side facing the block.
