I'll get some photos tonight but motor's out on the stand, parts coming off it... Timing cover going to work to be milled for the double roller, crank also getting turned for the clearance... Cam bearings going to be inspected for wear then gaskets and other Misc parts will be ordered... Time to get this damn motor done.
No idea when I will complete the nitrous setup since I need to go buy more parts for that and that requires a trip up to MA when I have free time... Not much during the week when he's open and the weekends are quite full lately.
I also ordered the last two Koni shocks that Koni USA had for the cougar that will work on a 95-96 rear... they discontinued that now too... LOL

Discontinued. I hate that word. I am waiting on parts for mine too before I can get it out of the garage.

Yup and without further research, I don't know if there is another option unless we resort to building our own upper mount and use a completely different style shock back there. At least this is true for 95+ guys, but I'd be surprised if they aren't planning on discontinuing the saab shock that fits the 94 and older cars.

Holy sloppy chain... You could hear this outside the vehicle when it would idle... Not a whole lot of extra play in the cam to the crank, but just NOISY!
Time to get them coated for real
Motor coming apart. Upon inspection I will also be replacing the cam bearings. The rear center bearing or 3rd one in has a spot that started to flake apart... I'll be getting the teflon coated ones from WOT-Tech.
Been a while since it's been like this... over 2yrs since I redid the bearings in the motor at least...

I had mine all assembled for all of two days last time!
That V-band setup on the headers is nice...a lot better than the donut. How did that DIY coating work out for you?

It's all in the prep and I'm apparently not a painter... I'm sure if I had prepped it properly (not sure where I went wrong) and had an oven large enough to bake it in then it would probably be just fine but I kinda didn't have all the optimal conditions, and yeah I'm getting sick of re-painting them over and over again.
It's as if something dripped on that down tube and just doomed it from the beginning before it was even baked on... Who knows maybe I spilt something before it got a chance to get baked on.
And yes I love my V-band... I was going to try out the TOG headers I got but with time constraints I think I'll wait since I would like to eliminate the TWO steel donuts and put in some V-bands on that as well. The previous owner who modified them to fit did not adjust the cross over either so the alignment currently sucks!

I learned paint work is harder than it looks when I did my car. You may be right about something spilling, too. The rattle can VHT header paint I used on the truck is actually holding up really well except for a spot where the heater core spilled on the tubes and wrecked it.

It's actually filthy... I need to re-do the paint someday in there since some area's did not adhere well... Probably due to grease or oil being on them still.

What happened to your strut mount covers?

96's don't have strut mount covers... And I need to access this, so it's just in the way in the end...
