Updates...

Issues with ring set, hopefully going to solve that at GM today...

Sealed power sells the ring sets as 1.2mm x 1.5mm x 4mm

The ring set that came out of this engine is 1.2mm x 1.5mm x 3mm... and if you look up older 3.1L engines that's what the ring sizes are listed as... so I don't know if aftermarket pistons for 3.4's are 4mm oil rings and just the GM ones are 3mm, but either way every aftermarket set of rings wont fit these pistons... so hopefully GM has a set that does, otherwise I will have to buy a set of pistons from sealed power to fit these rings.

My issue in photos...

Gold ring is what came out.

And you can see the thinner smaller rings that go with the wavy for the oil ring.

Beyond that I did get some other stuff done...
Crank set in place not torqued waiting for crank scraper, Also cleaned and painted brackets timing cover and oil pan.

Hope you didn't think your motor would get out of this garage without seeing some of my Industrial Gray... LOL!

Looks quite nice against the red though. Test fitting the pan to see.

I also test fitted the TCE set. I need the large chain guide for that so I'll order it today... the thin chain guide is too wide for this chain.

Total Seal rings order from Ben, Shipping the Sealed Power ones back to RA... since they just don't fit, they really can't argue that return reason. Crank scraper was shipped so I should get that soon. Since I'm waiting on the parts I'll probably do some bay paint work while I'm idle.

I have a set I think... LOL and a set of GTZ rims one pair black the other gold... hahaha its a styling look

We'll see how things go. Worse case I can bug Larry to see if I can borrow his truck/trailer to transport it, but that's last resort.

Got the crank scraper yesterday, should hopefully have the rings today or tomorrow. If I have them today I hope to have the bottom end assembled by tonight. Thats if I don't run into anymore issues.

If I have to clean one more piston I think I'm going to kill a bunny.... And I love bunnies... LOL

Finished cleaning all the pistons tonight so if the rings show up tomorrow I can get the bottom end built. I need to order the chain dampener from GM since the aftermarket version doesn't fit with the double roller. It's still too wide and actually too tall and hits the gear.
