Hi what i got is a 94 beretta and theres a guy around the corner with a dyno and computer program that can tune my car but the 94s i guess dont have a chip in them to burn. So my question is, is there a computer from a earlier year that has the chip in it that will plug right in to my harness. The only other thing i can do i guess is take the computer and harness out of a 97 lumina i have laying around and swap the whole harness but im looking for a easier way.

Any help would be great.

Your best bet would to be to swap up to a 96 year beretta. You can't just do the computer either, you have to swap the harness, or make changes to the current harness to make it work with the ECU. Pain in the ass. Earlier year won't work either for the same reason, not to mention they don't support the 4 speed electronic auto. I'm assuming you have the V6 Auto there. If you have the quad 4/manual I think those were OBD1 anyway.

94 and 95 were OBD 2 technically, but it was a hybrid chip more like an OBD1. Everyone here calls them OBD1.5, which essentially means its pretty screwed for doing anything with it easy.

Other way around... They were OBDI, but they use the technology of OBDII to program the chip, so its non removable, its flashable and no one has ever tried to flash it. It talks on the same OBDI platform hence why I can use a OBDI scan tool on a 94 and 95 to read/clear codes and get data.

You would be able to program it if someone took the time like they did with a 94-95 Camaro.

Read up on my 96 Engine bay harness in a 94-95 car and what you can use to tune that.

Also to add this is just a race car just need the motor and trans to run none of the abs, dash or anything else on the car not even the fuel pump got a inline one on a switch.

My mistake on the 97' harness.

You could also convert it to obd1 if you want. http://wot-tech.com/shop/gm-60v6/obd1-5 ... d_255.html

No my topic is NOTHING about using a 97 lumina harness. My topic is SPECIFIC to using a 1996 Beretta or Corsica harness ONLY. Please do not confuse my fixes for something else.

I was responding to Z26_T posting my thread as info to swapping in that harness.

I'm sure it would work fine but you would have to make sure you get proper power to everything that needs it, similar to what I did but obviously cross referencing Lumina to Beretta harnesses. I don't think the bulkhead plugs are the same so you would have to match it up to the Beretta interior harness OR get a Lumina interior harness to replace what you have.
