My 1989 GTU A/C clutch will not come on by itself. I checked and added refrigerant and it is good fuses seem good. Is there something else that can cause a problem? If I put current directly to the compressor it does turn on and it is cold.

Where is the relay? Fuses are good. Do you guys know which is the low pressure switch and high pressure switch for the A/C?

Low pressure switch on my 89 GT is on the compressor body itself. Also, I believe that the PS hose has a cutoff switch in it as well (supposed to cut out the AC if you are doing parking lot maneuvers). This is a case where you need a wiring diagram, it would help end some of the guessing. I haven't looked there in a while, but you used to be able to access service manuals at autozone.com.
