Ok, after giving my selfa headache trying to do some math, ive came up with some inconclusive results. The z26 weights 2990lbs with 155hp (96) and the probe gt weighs 2921lbs with 164hp. (96)
The z comes to 19.29lbs/1hp and the probe is 17.81lbs/1hp. Which looks great to me,( leaning on possibly getting one, please dont flame.) But if u look the big picture, the probe only has ~10 more hp only weighing 70lbs less. What im trying to gey at is:.is that enough of a difference to notice? Dont get me wrong, i loved my z and will have another one someday. But right now im looking for most bang for the buck. Im looking to spend around 1500 to 2k. Been trying to find a good z, but finding one in that range id actually buy seems difficult. So im opening my search to anything. Lol. Any help would be appreciated. My brand hurts..

Last time I checked you'll always feel a probe...

:burn:

I highly doubt that's enough of a difference to really "Feel" It's not large enough to justify swapping cars for something "faster" that's for sure.

Not only that u could buy an intake and have it be right there as far as hp the only difference is the probes gts are mostly 5spd where z26s are mainly auto unless u go with 94 quad z which is bout 180hp

If you get one I am selling a now discontinued Borla exhaust for a Probe GT.

I'd go for the probe GT. you can snag one with a v6/5spd combo and has a mazda derived dohc v6 for a better revving engine. It also has better handling capabilities with a fully independent rear suspension setup. Parts are interchangeable with a mazda mx-6 and the pop up headlights are directly from the rx-7 Fc. The probe almost replaced the mustang at one point!

The Probe was supposed to replace the Mustang and the Beretta was supposed to replace the Camaro. None of that turned out real well.

X2...

When talking numbers like this, the better question is gearing -which car is geared more aggressively. Neither one really has a distinct advantage, it is all trade-offs.

But an even better way to think about it is this -do you like the Probe better, or the Beretta? And which one is available for you to buy, when you need to buy it?

Personally, I liked the Probes when they first came out, and seriously wanted one (I actually liked the blockier first-gen, never really did like the second-gen) back in the day. Now, I would laugh myself into an oxygen-deprived coma if I allowed myself to buy a Ford -I've worked on too many of them to have respect for their quality-control- , but I am just opinionated, and the good ones that got put together right are admittedly REALLY good. It doesn't matter if I, or anyone else here 'likes' that car, what do YOU like? That is the real question...
