No, those are knock sensor chips nothing to do with the engine programming. If you notice with the older e-proms, you remove/relocate half of that chip with one thats removable and you still need to use the other half of that big blue chip, its the knock sensor chip that you need to reuse. So in 94+ they never made the knock sensor part permanent like the engine programming is. And don't get confused... 94-95 yes is flash based programming, but is still OBDI not OBDII... Only a 96 Beretta was OBDII.

94-95 Beretta's CAN be programmed if you got someone to crack the code like they did for the 95 Camaro's. The only issue is no one concentrated on finding out how to program them with OBDI hardware so that's why they are un-tunable.

Ok, I see what you mean.
It is interesting how they made them like this. Could have been cheaper to just make it integrated.
I will take a spare ecm appart later on to see whats what. Should not be too hard.

Why though? What are you attempting to do?

They also left the knock sensor separate because from what I've been told every sensor is specific to the module, or at least each module is specific to the engine the sensor is on, so with a 2.2L engine the ECU may be the same but programmed for 2.2 and the knock module is completely different since the harmonics are different, it may be something that can't be "re-programmed" and literally has to be changed out.

oh, now I understand what they are for.
This is just one of my hobbies. I like to take things apart and figure out how they work. The only problem is I can not find and blueprint or schematics for the computers to help me out. I have looked in the shop manual, but it only tells so much.
