went out for a spin this morning and have a loud creak when turning left or right. it sounds like its coming from under the dash behind the black panel. it sounds like a metalish rubbing
what can that be and is there a fix?

standard procedure... get somebody to move the steering wheel while you check everything you can get to. (might be good to jack up the front end to not flat spot your tires)
could be as simple as the steering wheel material rubbing on the plastic column surround, or as bad as the firewall ripping apart due to rust...

Could try a grease needle.

so here's what i did....
dropped both of the panels under the steering wheel
grabbed some rv silicone lube i had laying around with the straw for stream spraying....i know i need something better but this is what i had at the moment
sprayed as far into the boot as i could get
sprayed into a round hole and a square hole on the shaft end that is closer to the steering wheel....not sure what that accomplished but i figured what the hell
that seemed to take care of it yesterday and last night but i heard it a little this morning. not bad but still there. its cold out this morning too and it didnt start until the weather changed this week. my old man suggested it may have something to do with poly bushings.
also, you cant hear it from the outside, only inside under the dash
