First design timing chain tensioner non existent?

In the first design quad, is it just a few gears and a chain?? 1990 gtz.

Yes two double row timing sprockets, crank sprocket and double roller timing chain itself.

The timing chain tensioner is a pain in the double row so beware haha

Yes, and a tensioner with guide arm and 3 other chain guides. It very much so exists,lol.

Difficult to source the guides. I can get you a complete set straight from the last remaining case of them that I know exists. Which happens to be in my garage. 150 bucks shipped for the set.
Bear in mind this is just the three guides, not the tensioner.

Well, I'm screwed then. This motor is already a headache. Perhaps I should just swap it out with my 95 3.1. What 5 speed can I mate to that? It really seems to be the cheaper route for maintenance and performance on a budget. My girls student loans start today! 70000 dollars in ten years were paying

The tensioner and shoe for the 1st design is on RockAuto but yeah no other guides available...
Now why can't you convert a 90 to the 2nd design timing chain setup? just a thought I have no idea on what the answer is because they do list all 2nd design parts when you look up a 90gtz... all guides available.

There's a couple guides on autozone web sight that don't say what design they are, just that there 23 mm wide. That's about as wide as a double row,huh? I don't know. I gotta get it done sooner before its a complete tundra outside. I'm not sure why you couldn't convert it to the second design. Hmmm.....

You can, plus the newer style single is just as strong as the double with half the rotating mass!

Ok then... I thought there was a choice... And Cornfedgtz the 23mm is the width of the second design.

If you swap chain designs you +must+ swap the entire timing chain housing.
