Shift points wrong

First of all, Chevy beretta 2.8 auto. I just got done changing the o ring on the oil pump drive and i had to remove the throttle body. Now the car wont shift until it hits around 5k and it stalls constantly. What have I done wrong?

I'm not familiar with the older automatics but I have this to offer. My 89 plymouth horizon had a linkage that ran from the throttle body to the trans and when that was unhooked the trans shifts points were all too high. Maybe you left a vacuum line unhooked?

I cant shift it up or down. It just doesnt want to. I thought it could be the Throttle Valve but i could be wrong.

you were right near all the linkage, and a bunch of vacuum lines, and the major electrical connector for the tranny, i would re check everything down there

My guess is that the TV cable is in need of adjustment or came out of adjustment.
Sometimes, you can try slamming the pedal down to the floor really hard to unstick the throttle valves on the 700R4 RWD and 4WD transmissions. I had to do it 2 years ago when the weather got extremely cold, with my 83. It wouldn't shift out of 1st gear and was revving my poor diesel to hell LOL

I second the TV cable, and do it asap because you can trash a trans really fast if it is out of adjustment.

I should have mentioned to my story that the stabbing of the throttle (with my foot, not a knife) unstuck the valve, but I would highly recommend checking everything before doing that.
And if you do it, adjust the TV cable properly after as some of the older units can get weak and make it easy to slip and get loose.

SOLVED.....kinda. I adjusted the TV cable and it ran properly and shifted fine. It just needs a bit more adjustment

Good to hear, that is exactly what I thought of when i read this.
I assume it didn't get driven very long/far with it not adjusted? Only reason I ask is if they're left un-adjusted they can do some serious damage to the trans in a very short amount of time.

I put less than a mile on it with it unadjusted.
