actual spray paint on vinyl

i found a console lid that is in excellent condition minus a HUGE wear streak from arm propping. duplicolor, vht, and rustoleum vinyl "dye" is a bit red compared to the garnet so its not going to match. there is a touch up duplicolor "perfect match" intended for honda's that is damn near perfect patch. i've used it on some plastics and it close to oem color.

would using that paint on the console lid be doomed to fail?

I REALLY DONT WANT TO SCREW UP THE LID....

I would say find another test piece, just something that is scrap and try it on there before using it on the piece you want to keep.

Try it on your old lid. Let it dry properly and see what happens.
Problem is the console lid tends to take a beating unless you are very careful of it getting in and out.

I have mine painted with vynil paint and I will admit, I have had to redo it a few times now, just wear and tear.
