Could someone decipher these CEL code(s)? I am a little rusty on it and I want to be sure of what they are saying, all I need is the numbers they correspond with, I can look it up in my book.


I don't think you need to watch the full video to see all of the flashing codes, I just recorded a bit too long lol.

Looks like 12 44 and 45

12 just means
DTC - 12 No distributor reference pulse (diagnostic test active)

and 44-45 means bad o2 sensor Odd that it's stating "left bank"

DTC - 44 Left bank O2 sensor error (lean condition indicated)
DTC - 45 Oxygen sensor error (rich condition indicated)

Every code is flashed 3 times in two digit sequences. 12 is the start code and the end code, what you want are the codes flashed between the 12's. Also, what Jon said, 44 & 45.

44 Oxygen sensor voltage was under 0.2 volts for 60 seconds of closed loop operation.
45 Oxygen sensor voltage was over 0.7 volts for 30 seconds in a closed loop when throttle angle was between 3% and 45% and engine had been running for at least 1 minute.

The site I pulled those fault code descriptions from expects everyone to be a rocket scientist I guess! lol

Moral of the story is, your O2 is junk! Buy a new one, but NOT a Bosch!

Yep, I knew the 12 code, I just was not sure of the actual codes. Thanks! This will be the 5th or 6th O2 sensor I've put in it! (First 4 or 5 were NTK garbage, and the current one is a Bosch. Guess I'll go for Delco.)

Would Denso be a good enough brand? Only ones carried around me are NTK, Bosch and Denso.

No o2 sensor should crap out that quick regardless of brand... are you sure you don't have fueling issues causing the sensor to read improperly? That is another possibility.

I do believe the sensor that is in my 96 is a Bosch sensor I used ages ago on one of my engines...

from what i can remember, Denso is the actual manufacturer of the Delco units, so i would go for it.

considered running a heated O2? they seem to last significantly longer than the 1-wire units.

Figured I'd update. Bought a AC Delco O2 sensor for $16 shipped. So I'll put it in today or tomorrow and see if it stops throwing the code, if not then I guess there is something I need to address on it.
