Just another Turbo 95'

Thought I'd finally start a thread now that I have some downtime. Here's the history of my car. I bought it in 2008 from BJ in Tennessee. I had it transported to me sight unseen.. Probably not the best idea, but oh well. He had already done a 90' Getrag 282 swap with matching sub frame and lower control arms. Also had a 99' 3400, Eibach lowering springs, rear strut tower brace, and a lot of wiring issues.. I DDed it until this May with just minor repairs here and there.

Heres how she looked when I first bought her

This May after the semester ended I decided to finally install some parts that I had laying around.

From May-August I installed these things. I had the engine out and apart in a night but ran into lots of other issues.. so it took a lot longer than expected.

Wot-Tech ported 3500 heads with comp springs.
Wot-Tech ported LIM and UIM
Wot-Tech custom cam/pushrods: 268/284 seat to seat, 214/230 @ .050, .528/.528 lift, 113 ICL 114 LSA.
ARP head studs
TCE 65mm TB
TCE Phenolic spacers (2 sets of 1/2 inch)
42.5lb injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Rebuilt Garret T3T04e .60 trim
Tial Bov
35mm external wastegate
6 puck XTR clutch
Stainless steel clutch line from master to slave cylinder
Loner 666s headers with re-fabbed cross-over and down pipe
Loner 666s big intercooler (not sure brand)
OBD2 swap

How the engine looked when I bought it in 08'

There's probably more that I'm forgetting. I by-passed the heater core and drilled the t-stat to help prevent bubbles (Superdave had this issue). I used a 2005 equinox thermostat housing because it was straight and not curved. I also put in a 2001+ starter motor because it's a lot smaller. And of course I used 2 step colder spark plugs. I will update as I go along and feel free to ask lots of questions. Also heat wrapped everything and a turbo blanket. And after I rebuilt the trans I painted it industrial gray for Jon ;).

Yes. A couple members on 60* had issues with this. *shrugs*. I just drilled a 1/8" hole in it and i've never had any issues.

Haha, yes Jon. I actually used "New Ford Gray" but it looked really close. I started my intakes and timing cover with that then re-sprayed with high temp "flat aluminum".

The gray I used was actually just dupli color 500* engine paint, not really listed as industrial, it just kinda had that look.

It's the same stuff then :). Dupli color 500* engine enamel then I topped it off with "2000*" rust-oleum flat aluminum. The rust-oleum stuff has impressed me. I sprayed some exhaust flanges with it and it still looks good.

Well this gives me renewed hope that my 1" Nitrous spacers should fit without any hood issues :) At least if I use my 3100 large port upper intake, which I do plan on doing.

Jon- the stock hood you do have to notch.. but I imagine yours will be fine. I had to notch one of the underside supports by the #1 cylinder. It contacts the plenum runner.

Woody: I haven't ran it yet. The local track closes down in August but the track conditions were terrible so I didn't want to run it. (also was waiting on a full tune.) But to give you an idea.. I would spin completely through 1st, 2nd, some of third, and a bit of forth. Never had it in WOT in 5th though. I deperately need some suspension/tire upgrades along with a LSD...

Speedy: I have a 6psi spring in it now, but i've hit 14 a few times. My plans are to use a 6 psi spring for DD and the 14 psi one at the track. But when running at the track I want to use a water/alcohol mix.

Geoff-I think that's your name...- I only have a very base tune right now. I got swamped with the semester (19 credits + 40 hours a week at work) so the car has been having to wait. I'm hoping next week I can install my wideband o2 and pyrometer then start working on a full tune.

I know of this car. I cannot believe it actually runs. If i look around i have very old photo's of this car where the engine bay is completely spray bombed.

Yep.. BJ spray bombed it.. I really wish he hadn't but oh well. Now the only parts of the car that look good are the engine, seats, and dash :P. It has always ran since I bought it from him. The ICM was toasted, he had a afr gauge that was grounding out the o2, also a bad battery and starter when I got it. The battery was relocated to the trunk with 8ish gauge wire.. and he ran a ground all the way to the engine.. So it didn't run well, but it ran.. I fixed everything and it was actually a pretty mean car. When I pulled off the heads/intakes to put Wot-Tech 3500 stuff in I found out that the 3400 heads and intakes were ported. I don't think BJ even knew about that. Must've been done by whoever owned the 99' grand am he got the engine from.

BJ's cardomain for it: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/531359/19 ... et-beretta

The indiglo overlay messed up the gauges (Even with the overlay removed they still didn't work). I also made the interior as stock as possible.. Removed/replaced a lot of parts he painted and such. It also came with the cavalier "checkerboard" wheels seen above. Now I'm using 90' Z24 wheels. I also have a couple sets of Z26 wheels from previous projects and a set of GTZ wheels.
