the wiper motors in these cars as mine goes in and ot and is slow as nails. just curious if anyone has looked into this, as search hasnt revealed much other then water leak discoveries

why not just replace it with a JY one?

I've never heard of anyone "upgrading" to a different style.

I've been thinking of switching mine out, but my only options with all the snow around is the high mileage Malibu I have for parts. So I don't know if it's any better or not.

I've been doing more work on trying to find better wiper arms but have also been doing some wiper motor/transmission research as well. I'll let you know what I find out

just curious jon as i know that these are pretty slow and i unfortunately have to drive it for this winter so im just curious if their is anything better. Like when anything goes im always looking to upgrade so i was just wondering what might be out there

yeah, simply order up a new motor... i don't see a need to find something else to modify to work, as the stock setup seems perfectly fine to me... I just need to paint my wiper arms a fresh coat of black, and we'll be good.

I'm thinking your's may be "slow" due to the age of the motor and the age of the brushes and such... I've never found the wipers to be too slow but that is my personal opinion. I also rain-x anything that has glass on it so that may make a difference since I never use high on any of my vehicles.

Slow? Id suspect yours is worn out or your switch is bad. Mine is just as fast as the hundreds of cars ive driven.. and you can use rainx or standard car wax. Since rainx is just wax.. I wax all my cars windows now.

Yeah, unless you have used it, its hard to explain. But its nice hitting highway speeds and actually not having to use the wipers at ALL. lol

I typically don't use my wipers very much if at all, unless it is deluging with rain. It drives my family (and friends, when they ride with me) nuts.

I must agree with the consensus on this, if the wipers are running too slow, there is a problem, not a need for an "upgrade". Factory Beretta wipers work just as well as any other factory wipers, and it is usually more than sufficient, Rain-X or not... The salvage yard or even ebay are probably the best way to go, I've never trusted aftermarket for these, although I sold a ton of them when I worked for a restoration-parts shop (these were for classic cars though, OEM wiper motors were not available or cost hundreds of dollars).

Ive used both rainx and regular turtle wax with the same results. Water beads off. I rarely use my wipers now either.

So far in my search for better wiper arms, I have a set of wiper arms (haven't gotten the part number cross referenced to see what they are from). I found them in a box of thrown away parts from the local dealership LOL

They are the correct length, the first hinge is 4" further up the arm, which allows the arm to put more pressure to the windshield (heavier, longer springs help too)...The only problem is GM started using larger wiper arm studs and my Corsica (even my 02' Silverado) can't tighten down properly.

I'm gonna mess around with wiper transmissions, motors and stuff in the next few months. I'm gonna measure my wiper stud spacing, then look for a vehicle with similar length and pull all those parts. It sounds like the motors aren't all that different in the way they operate, as they simply rotate back and forth.

It all sounds ridiculous, but these arms are similar to the ones on my parents 09 GMC Sierra. These arms work awesome and have great washer nozzles that cover evenly. So it's a few little upgrades for a lot of work, but I hope to do the hard work for everyone.

It's among the many projects I am currently or will tackle in the next few months.
