Horn location?

So I was awoken this morning at 6:30 am by the sound of the horn going off in my girlfriend's 88 GTU. In my half-awake state, I was able to tread into the darkness at 3 degrees farenheit to unhook the battery. I didn't have time to do any more looking before having to go to work, where is the horn located? I'm probably going to unhook it for now.

Sorry if it's in an obvious place, but I was a little out of it this morning.

It's under the driver and/or passenger headlight, behind the bumper.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is it on a separate fuse? That sounds like a pain in the ass.

Yeah, with the radio.

lol

And it IS a pain in the ass to get to for the plug. Bases had only one horn and I think those were only on the passenger side, not sure how the GT/GTUs were. GTZ Z26 had 2 horns, one on each side.

But I'm pretty sure the fuse for the horn was the same one that did the radio.

That's what the repair manual says.

It did say there's a relay for the horn under the dash, I guess I can check that out too.

As for this car goes, the g/f knows the PO and she said it does that all the time when it gets really cold out. Weird. Does anyone else have this problem? lol

The PO? Anyway I'm thinking it's the horn "button" in the steering wheel. Some people tend to mash the horn when they are mad and the contacts get close(bent) over the years. When it's cold the contacts touch do to everything contracting.

its prob the steering wheel button the plates that trip the horn seem to get bent from smashing it over the years. that piece on the center pops off very easy

Yeah, I tried that and to my delight, the horn button snaps off with no tools. And the horn connector is one spade connector.

Super easy fix.
