Will the rear sway bar from an '88/89 GT also fit a '95 base model, and is it worth the hassle to remove and install?I seen where someone said something about hollow and solid bars with colored caps,,this one's at a jy and i didnt see caps on either side, the very tips look hollow then turn to solid further in.Not building a hot rod, just thought it might be a cheap upgrade.Any thoughts?

no the newer rear sway bars are all hollow.you will have to find one from an 88 or 89 beretta at a junk yard or something they are the best ones ever made and they are solid not hollow like the rest of the newer years..It is very hard to find one I looked all over the place and couldnt find one so I bought a new one..from addco performance parts summit also sales them summitracing.com

Sorry to invade your thread, but I was also wondering if these rear sway bars work on the 94-96 suspension. I know its not a direct bolt on, but can it be made to work?

im not really sure I was told they did but you have to do some modification if your gonna put it on a 94 or newer but on the older ones the addco rear sway bar is a direct bolt on it fits like a glove.im not sure why gm changed the rear setup on the 94 through 96 I never could figure it out.why cant they just stick with one thing.

The solid rear swaybar was part of the Z-51 option only available on 88's. I think 15" wheels were part of it also.

The rear setup is only different on the 95 and 96. 87-94 are all essentially the same.

Whats the trick to get one to work in a 95+?  Same as the addco?

same thing as the addco.  You have to drill some holes or weld I spose.

I have some questions please.

How much heavier is the solid bar?  Direct swap on a 90 GTZ?  How in the world does one tell if the donor car has a solid bar?

no idea on the wieght, I'll way it next time I'm at my parents.

It will fit right on a 90, infact anything before 95 it will fit right on.

Most of the solid bars are found on 88 GTs.

If you look at the bar from the end, you can tell if it's solid or not. The original on my 88GT was hollow. It had these plastic caps over the ends too.

I thought that 96 was the year that they change the rear setup?
