I snapped the shift cable in my '89 beretta GT. its the forward and back one, not side to side. the guy at advanced auto doesn't seem to know whats going on. the thieves at the local GM dealership want $180 for a new one. what are my options?

Not many, newer is better on this kinda thing. Or the junkyard and how long will it last? For me it was hard to find parts for older Beretta's and most out there have an auto trans like mine did.
