bleeding clutch

quad 4 5 speed gtz (quazar blue)
my clutch is solid, wont depress what so ever. I think maybe the clutch is air bound and want to bleed it. the book says just open the bleeder screw. there is no bleeder screw on either my master or slave cylinder. can someone tell me how to bleed this freaking thing cause im about to push it into the river.

look around on your transmission, should be a small screw like thing sticking out on the side towards the radiator just in front of the shift cables, thats how mine is, but mine is also a isuzu(sp?) so im not sure on yours.

What year is it? I don't think there is a bleeder screw on 90 and 91s.

Quasar Quads only came in 92 and 93. 93 switched to the internal slave and I'm not sure you can bleed those. I'll try to look in the GM manual tonight.

I must've missed the Quasar part on that one, That's what I get for replying on my iPhone.
The internal slave (the concentric one) for sure can be bled, I have that on mine. There's a little bleeder screw on that one right where the line goes in the trans.
I thought the 92s (or some?) were like that too?

U DONT HAVE THE IZUZU! Stop saying that. haha
If its an internal slave, then yes, you have a bleeder down at the tranny right where the bushing for the lines are, and there is another bleeder up at the master cylinder.

sorry guys i usually put all the info down. Its a 92 and has an external slave that bolts onto the tranny. I replaced both the master and slave cylinder yesterday, and also replaced the clutch last weekend (my first fwd, what a pain). So the clutch pedal moves again, but now is super soft, which means it is airbound. There is no bleed on either cylinder. Also what type of fluid goes in tje transaxle?

Most people find it best to use Synchromesh fluid. GM and Penzoil both have a synchromesh but neither is cheap.
As for bleeding the clutch, I bench bled mine and it works great. I removed the hydraulics as a complete unit and set it up on the bench so the resevoir was the highest point with the master just below it and the slave as low as I could get it. Then i used the wall to carefully (and fairly slowly) push the slave in and out as far as it would go. It doesnt get full extension when its installed so that could be why its so hard to bleed installed. Five or tenminutes of that and the i reinstalled everything keeping the resevoir higher than the master and the master higher than the slave.
Theres probably other ways and some may be easier, but this worked for me on my unit which has ZERO bleeder screws.

Yeah, that's the way I had to do it before I got rid of that awful setup. You can actually buy the thing from GM pre-bled in one piece.

Yeah but I had already spent enough money on my car Another $200+ wasnt an option.

i did it how my GM service manual said to
loosen master cylinder from firewall (but dont take off completely)
remove slave from trans (keep lower than master)
remove resevior cap
press slave cylinder in, then install cap while still depressed
then while slave is still lower than master, give it some pumps until no air bubbles in the resevior
then install slave, and finally tighten up the master
it worked fine for me, car shifted great after that
only thing which isnt a real problem for me, my clutch lets out real early
i dont remember it letting out like that, but i also have spec stage2 with fidanza and a new slave when i did it
i have a 91GT with 3.1 (now 3400) for reference

Is their any way to bleed or adjust a clutch on a 90 one?
