On my OBD-I system for a 93' 3.1, I got an ALDL to serial port adapter cable, plugged it into the car's diagnostics port on one end and the serial port of a laptop on the other end. I then used a program called FreeScan (http://www.andywhittaker.com/ECU/FreeSc ... fault.aspx) and used the 410b definitions file, which works for my particular Beretta model. I had to screw around with the serial port stuff to initiate the communications, but once I did it worked. The hard part for me is making sense of all the data it produces, I'm not an automotive engineer so some of it is way over my head. Hope this helps!

do you still have a 1991 beretta?

edit  I guess the better question is what year/engine beretta are you working on?
