First things first.

What do you mean the steering wheel is "loose"?

Hey there asylummotorsports!  Thanks for the respond  They said that the steering wheel is loose, where they want $160.00 to pull the steering wheel and tighten the bolt down inside.  My Son said that the bolt is as tight as it can get, and then my Dad told him that he needs a whole new steering wheel?  The steering wheel has been that way for the last 3 years, and the same place that inspected it the last 2 years, is the one that is saying now that it's loose! I don't really think that it's that loose, just that when you grab tightely onto it, like if you are adjusting your seat sometimes, it moves down a little..... My Son loves his Beretta, and I don't want to get rid of it!!  They also said that the high beam switch is down in there too, and that has to be fixed too!  It's not the steering column, just the wheel part, where your hands go on when driving......don't know how else to put it?  My Son is currently in the Air Force and is using my Cobalt, and I am trying to do my best to fix his "Baby" but I just feel like crying, 'cause I don't know where to start!  First they wanted $600 from the one place, where we did everything that they said was wrong ourselves, and now another place wants $900 more to fix a bunch of things that they say need fixed!!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!  Thanks again!  Hope to hear from you soon ~Kimber~

Is the tilt the problem? When you pull the lever and push the wheel down to where you want it, does it move after that? What I'm asking is, is it the column or the wheel that's moving?

I vaguely remember a problem in the column where sometimes a bolt comes loose inside.  You have to pull the wheel and the lock plate.

I had a problem like this on the autox car, but it was a pin that came out (and its the older style column).  If its not too loose that it is impeding the ability to drive it (like it won't stay in a position) I would let it be for now.  As for the high/low beam, that is an easy fix.  It is a push button switch located on the steering column about 1/2 way down (under the dash).  A little push rod pushes it that is pushed by the blinker arm.  You can get them cheap at parts stores, and they are only 2 screws and one electrical plug to replace.  Pull that cover off from under the dash and you will be able to see it.  If you feel comfortable replacing it- then go for it!
