What would be better to clean my egr valve?

throttle body cleaner or carb and choke cleaning

I prefer Carb Cleaner.

My car had about 200k on it when I did a EGR clean. I had to take the upper intake off to clean the EGR port out because the hole was almost pluged(lots of hard caked in crap, used a screwdriver and a round wire brush).
