Hello ,
My 1990 Beretta2.2 L4 has a starting problem, when i crank the engine it doesnt start, but when i remove the fuel injector and hot wire it directly to the battery, put it back in,the car starts at once.
But after about 2 hours it refuses to start again.
I already replaced the fuel injector and the fuel pump relay.
My ECM code is 3 X 12 so that,s ok.
Can anyone please tell me what is wrong with my Beretta???

How do you know that the fuel lines aren't full of junk? My guess is that you clean the injector, and it simply dams up with garbage in the line.
ABSOLUTELY verify spark/ignition sys. works. [easy test, no spark plug >5k ohms, no more than 1000ohms per inch on all sparkplug wires, and coils should all agree, being similar in resistance reading. I think they are what, 5 ohms? don't quote me on the 5ohms/coil] lets get this out of the way.
Now the ign. sys works.
Will it start everytime if you shoot starting fluid in the intake upon cranking? [ or if you're by yourself, shoot a half second in the air pipe.] If so, fuel is not getting to the eng. which is what it sounds like. This test just verifies this, that if it had fuel, it would go.
Auto fuel is good for 3 months without question. 6 months should be fine. anything more, it could start to sour out. I have used gas 2 years old and it was fine, but be careful... auto fuel will GEL if left unSTABILized.
Check fuel filters if fuel PRESSURE CHECKS OKAY. Fuel pump check. You have a short red wire near the driver side main harness entrace on the firewall area at base of driver windshield wiper... hook that to POSITIVE and your fuel pump runs. hot wire this and start/run car. Any change?
hmmm what else?
you have an inline filter under and backside of the car by rear axle. self explanitory. There are bag filters in the gas tank [its much easier than it looks to remove gas tank!] maybe these bag filters have died and are now clogging your injectors.
more help,
email me.

there is much more stuff we can do, but I hope this can be done and it'll fix it. Take care of ignition first. Verify spark by externally grounding plug [nice trick is to take a jumper cable, one half it it... connect one side blk to gnd of car [battery for ex] and the other blk cable to a spark plug hanging to where you can see it when turning the key. this way, the plug is grounded. of course, you'll need to borrow a wire.
oh,
amckevitz@yahoo.com is my email
good luck and hopefully don't get too mad

PS. I just had a crankshaft sensor develop a crack... oil got in, and my spark was intermittant. after reviving the car through a dead computer and 8month old non stabil gas, turned out, it was a crank sensor. I never have seen one go bad, but it only stands as a gateway to allow spark to happen or not.
it was intermittant! no codes. so this is why I say verify spark. I thought I had fuel probs because symptoms were the same.... until one day, it didn't spark at all!

Hello Yellow 3800,
I have checked ign.sys and ,it sparks at all cylinders.
The problem is the fuel system, unscrewed master fuel line from the throttle body and the fuel leaked out in great amounts.
When i crank the engine the fuel is not injected, but when i remove the fuel injector and hot wire it directly to the battery the fuel is spraying out of the injector, put the injector back in place and the car starts after one time crankin.
But when the car stands still for two or three hours i have to repeat the whole hot wire thing again{not a nice thing to do everytime because it,s cold,stormy and wet this time of the year over here }
Put a new fuel pump relay and injector in the car but the problem is still the same.
Hopefully we can solve the problem.

I want to help, but I'm not sure what's going on. I guess that you replaced the fuse for the injectors. That's all I have for now.
