what all do i need to do to put in the one fo my full gauge cluster. Do i need to drain the oil? or can i just un screw the old one and put in the one for the gauge? Thanks all!

lmao, thats all? no oil drainage when i pull the old one out?

It might leak a little, but that will be from what ever is left in the sensor.  Remember to use tef tape (or for those more picky, tef goo)!  
Who says working on cars is clean...  Got to have a mess.

Really, unscrew the old one and put screw the new one in!!!  No oil drainage!!!

Drop down the starter take gain more wrench clearence.  Remove old replace with new, that simple.

It is not i who is looking to do this - mine came with it stock I have fought with mine a couple of time now though!!!

BTW - if you have the 2.8 or the 3.1 (not 3100) the sending unit is right behind the a/c compressor on the passenger side of the oil filter adapter.  Removal of the starter is not required.

Also, if you are swapping from the light to the gauge, i think another wire is invloved for the gauge, but don't quote me on that!!!

you guys, i can't find it!!!!!! all i can find is a 1 pin thingy that looks nothing like the ones i see in pictures or the one for the gauge i found. I'm stuck help!!!!!

On my 2.8 it is right behind the a/c compressor on the oil filter adapter and comes out on an angle pointing to the front left corner of the car.  It is very well buried and can be a ***** to get to.

Take off your starter as suggested.  It sits right above the starter under the front exhaust headers and sticks into the block at a bit of an angle.

Yours should look like this:


The one you're putting in should look like this:


Taking off the starter makes this job a lot easier.

I think we should find out just what v6 he has.  The 2.8/3.1's had then in the oil filter adapter as i have explained - no where near the starter.

The 3x00's had them located on the opposite side of the filter where the starter would have to be removed.

Those pics that snowblind posted should help a ton!!!

I figured it was a 3100 based on your filler panels and my bstuff memory of your car year lol.

I also remember what V6 you have(3100). Great photos snowblindburd. 6r8ph1X see the threads on the new one? Mine came like that, all I did was try to soak up some of the oil and then stuck the new one in. No need for anything else(unless you want to, but you will have to clean the threads). Man, mine was so bad that oil was in the area where the three pins are. I thought it was the gauge, but it was just fine. Yes, on a 3.1 it's easy to find and get to.
