I'm selling my 89 GTU as some things have come up and I have too many vehicles. This is a great car and I'm very proud of the work put into it. It was a bit of a barn find when I picked it up. It's been stored every winter since new which is why the mileage stayed low and it has no rust. Unfortunately, as I found out, when a car is stored so much it developes its own set of issues. When i picked it up every gasket in the 2.8 was leaking and the auto trans was pretty well shot. I got fed up with that pretty quick and had a friend convince me to swap in the 3500 and my 5spd to liven it up a little. The swap was done with 77k on the clock. Since then I've upgraded quite a few things so here's the list:
3500 from an 05 malibu with 16k
Getrag 5spd setup from my 88 with 67k
WOT-Tech adapter with 3.5 DOHC TB
BCC crank position sensor setup
AC completely removed
billet trans mount
billet dogbone
poly filled engine mounts
custom lower engine bracket
powdercoated coolant lines and brackets
3400 minivan exhaust manifolds
2.5" custom bent exhaust
Magnaflow SS highflow cat
Flowmaster 40 series SS muffler
Borla SS intercooled tips
Custom short throw shiter (not a hackjob. spent a lot of time and money getting that right.)
Wilwood 4 piston big brake kit up front with SS braided hoses on modified powdercoated knuckles
welded, blasted, and powdercoated control arms with greasable Del-A-Lum bushings installed
Energy suspension swaybar bushings and endlinks
Energy suspension boots on ball joints and tie rod ends
New struts and shocks
Powdercoated Eibachs
Lightweight rims with goodyear eagle RSAs that have approx 5k on them
New GM wheel bearings
Acid dipped, washed, blasted, and e-coated K-frames from an 89 5-spd car
GM K-frame connector powdercoated
Addco rear bar added to the rear beam that already has an internal bar
Custom fender to radiator support braces
Custom gas/brake/clutch pedal assy
Custom GTU decals
Kenwood deck
Infinity amp and speakers
Boss amp powering a 10" pioneer flat sub
Redone headliner and decklid
...and there's probably more I'm forgetting
The car has a pretty decent tune in it. It runs smoothly and is fairly strong but there's a lot more there to be had. The plan was to make a proper set of headers and then get the tune dialed in on the dyno but that hasnt happened so the buyer can choose to do as they wish. I haven't fixed the dent in the drivers fender and door yet as I was going to eventually have it repainted but that obviously hasnt happened either.
