I am debating what rims to use for drag radials. I have a set of crosslace and a set of z26 wheels. I am leaning towards the crosslace because I think they are lighter and I will be able to put a little bigger tire on it. The bigger the sidewall the better right?

If you don't plan on upgrading your brakes to 12", then I'd use the 15" wheels.

More sidewall is better for slicks, I dont know about drag radails.
Why dont you just go straight to slicks?
Crosslaces are lighter than z26 wheels, I have a crosslace dismounted, I can weigh it if anyone is curious of what one weighs...

I was thinking about slicks but haven chosen not to for a couple of reasons.
Don't want to have to trailer the car to the track or swap wheels at the track
Don't want broken axles at the track cause I have to drive the car home.
I am thinking about buying these

I'm gonna be running my DR's on a set of 17's so yeah the bigger the sidewall isn't really needed with DR's they just provide a little more traction than a regular tire... vs say a wrinkle wall slick tire... thats way over kill for our FWD cars.

Hehe... Choate used wrinkle wall slicks on his 92 GTZ... I think he had them on there at Memphis... but I could be wrong.
Once you start getting in the low 13's, it's hard to find traction in these cars.

You can get the BF Goodrich G-force T/A drag radials, not the "Radial 2" version, cheaper (that is what Lil'Jon and I bought) and Discount Tire (discounttire.com) is cheaper and they have FREE shipping.
15" will, in most cases, give you a bit of a gear ratio advantage.

Only if you do a smaller profile too...  a 15" tire at the proper width and ratio will be exactly the same size as my 17" tire. Stock beretta tires are around 24.9" to 25" in overall diameter.

225/50/15 = 23.9"
And 3.94 FDR!
