How Hard Is It To Change the Rack Bushings?

I was wondering how hard is to to swap out the bushings/mounts on the steering rack (I've got a 95 if that makes any difference)?

I don't think mine are very bad, but want to upgrade to somethings stiffer or new, just for strength. I'm hoping it's doable with the 2.2L intake in the way...

Also, how about the inner tie-rod bushings, how difficult are they to change?

The steering rack bushings are a pita due to the lack of room, mine sucked changing without and engine in LOL but it is doable, 4 studs hold it on
But the inner tie rod bushings are just the 2 bolts and are easy to change, just remember the order to which you take the washers ect off

Cool, looks like it will be a project for when the 2.2L is ready to be removed :D

2.2 should be easier to get to than the v6 that's for sure

The 2.2's do have a clunky and fat intake manifold, that covers up most of the firewall accessible from standing around the engine bay, but it's easy to remove, or it might be easier to remove the top engine mount and pushing it forward out of the way.

I just recently replaced the inner tie rod bushings on my '91 (or am in process of, just need to install the new parts) - I'm glad I have the Getrag swapped in, as doing the job with an automatic transmission wouldn't have been as fun. (I had to go at things from underneath the vehicle for best access/working-room.)

It's super easy if you remove the entire tie rod assembly and have access to a 12ton press. Pop out, pop in!

Sissy's.... I've changed a complete steering rack through the drivers side wheel well opening on a 3400/auto setup with cruise control... In a dirt driveway mind you... ;)
