Since it went off on a tangent I figured I would re-quote myself with my current plans... Since I just passed emissions with a clean bill of health... at least they think so... LOL, I'll be digging in on the car soon.

3X00-Modified wrote:Then the first upgrade on the list is really a downgrade... Going by weights I found, I'm going back to what I originally planned to run for brakes. I'm swapping out the F-body stuff for a set of N-body equipment. I have the calipers I just need pads and rotors. I'm look at a total rotating weight loss of 12-14lbs just by changing the rotors. Beretta's are 11.4, Grand Am are 13.5 and the Camaro ones are 19+ I think I can live with the 11" brakes for now.

The other things on the list are a few engine tweaks... I'm going to tear into it and see how things are going inside and inspect cylinder bore's and bearings and such, and then move on to the heads and give those full porting treatment... When I built this motor back in 07 IIRC for ole red I only did gasket matching for the lower to the head, and upper to the lower... I never continued the port smoothing throughout the runners. So I'm sure if I clean up the heads and intakes I can gain a few pony's

After that the trans is also getting a look to see if there are any worn parts, and then I'm changing out all the valves and such in the VB for the anodized ones that wont side load as easy, hopefully that will firm up my 2-3 shift some since that still seems to be quite soft. LSD will also get checked and maybe shimmed up a bit to provide more pre-load, I think the clutches should be fine in it but they are 2yrs old at least now so its worth a check.

So all and all a good amount of upcoming upgrades/downgrades to keep me busy this winter... Hopefully they all go smooth and I get the car closer to its 13 sec n/a time it once ran...
Also on the chopping block for possibly next year... pending funds of course... will be the implementation of a direct port system, I would love to get the nozzles that integrate right into the injectors, BUT those are $102 each! I think I'll stick to 6 fogger nozzles $33 each, and try to cram them under the 3500 upper intake, now with the cowl, I could get thicker spacers if necessary.

you need some of the huge spacers i got. when i got them Ben told me they were 1", well sitting there with the calipers i had it opened to 1" and im like the spacers are bigger than that. turns out they are actually 1 1/4". i was measuring for different bolts at the time. but if i want to use them with the 3500 UIM i got to get some longer studs, the ones i got are a wee too short.

even with 1" ones you could drill and tap a hole in each port and still have enough meat left over. that would be a kickass setup. you could probably mount them on the inside so there kinda hidden.

TreeZ24 had 1" aluminum spacers with 6 fogger nozzles installed in them at one time before he sold it. Was a cool setup.

Well after getting the 12.67 by just warming the bottle to the proper pressure I decided to only work in that area for this year, plus its a bit cheaper. I have not totally written off the idea of the direct port setup since it will help with power, but I would rather leave that alone right now and just get it consistent, and reliable... I need that diff to stay together and grip... then I'll add more power :)

lol, buy a Exedy clutch, I hear those are good... just ask SCD88GA

To be honest though, You might be able to get away with a cheaper OEM type clutch.... Your really not slamming down that much power.

I'm just really blown away that you already slipped a Spec clutch... To be that fragile it doesn't seem worth the money.

All OE Getrag 282 Exedy clutches (regardless of part number) are good up to 275 chp.

Well there ya go.... I can only assume that your not cranking out 275 CHP... Maybe its time to try an OEM Exedy clutch and see what happens.

I would never buy another spec clutch. If you have the money eric, i would get a clutchmaster. My spec clutch is noisy as hell.I know onces i replace my trans with the rebuilt one.I will still have the same clutch chatter.Nice job jon i didn't realize how much time and work you have into the car.
