Battery or just a boost?

So I actually went down to "The Vault" as we call our underground parking here. (It really is that secure.)

Beretta is just covered in dust, but safe and sound, opened the door, lights went on, turned the key, dash lit up, and CLICK! Click, click, click!

F%&%!!

So do I just boost a 4 year old cheapo battery or bite the bullet and buy a new one?

Serious thoughts appreciated.

You run subs and amp? If money's no issue just chuck a new one in, but an honest charge never hurts.

Rather rare Factory installed Delco AM/FM/CD unit. Just paid a whack of dough to have it re-furbished.

Hell I'm old and can't hear much anyway.

Guess it's Optima time. $229. YIKES!!

I had a yellow top it was killer! never let me down and I was running a 2500 watt stereo , until I let the car sit for 3 years with it still hooked up now its an oversized paper weight.

The older I get and the more my hearing depreciates the louder my stereo gets so by 60 I should be running like 4 or 6 12" subs lol

I don't care what battery you decide to run but you need a tender over the winter, both of my batteries are on a tender now and have been all winter.

From now on I'm just taking the battery out and bringing it up to the spare bedroom and on a trickle charger.

Not allowed to have a charger in the garage! LOVE the security of this place, but can't do ANYTHING!

Really just a waste of a battery that is now toast!!

Just put it on a trickle charge. See if the battery still holds a charge. If it does great. Save yourself some money.

I would get a decent known brand AGM battery over an Optima nowadays. They're a proven technology, especially for vehicles that are stored for long periods of time. My Corvette sits for at least 4 months of the year and always starts up like it was running the day before.

You can try charging it, if you can pop the caps off,
then test it with a hydrometer, if all the balls float, it is still a good battery.
If only half float, you should get a new battery.
I have bought used batteries at the JY and brought them back to good condition by charging.
If the garage is well lit, maybe a solar charger plugged into the cigarette light will keep it fresh.
Your radio's clock draws power so even if you install an AMG battery it will still run down over time.
I remove my boat and water craft batteries, keep them in the garage and charge them once a month.
If a battery sits dead for a length of time it sulfates and is no good.
If you pull it and keep it inside, set it on something that won't get damaged by
the little bit of acid that can be on the case of the battery.

Well I boosted it and it ran just perfect.

Oil pressure where it should be, alternator going crazy, LOL!

Spent $10 at the coin wash and blasted the hell out of it.

Then took it for a 20 mile drive to blow it off and charge the battery.

Little Bugger ran PERFECT!! Didn't miss a beat! Roads were clean and dry.

Parked it back in "the Vault" and it re-started just fine

Still going to buy an AGM battery as Cliff suggested and be done with it!

It's alive and now has to get ready for Mississippi!
