Transmission spline count?
Does the 4t60 have the same splines as the 4t60e?

Re: Transmission spline count?
90 GP should be a 3 speed unless mclaren. 3 speed to 4 speed in this case would share splines.

Re: Transmission spline count?
The 90 grand prix 3 speed with the 96 Beretta 4 speed will share splines. McLaren should, but dbl check.

Re: Transmission spline count?
You can't use a stock beretta inner passenger axle cv because the HD trans has a different spline and diameter on the passenger side spider gear.
Why do you want the HD trans? The only difference is the differential.

Passenger spider gear on the right... This is a 96 60e-hd diff. I'm not sure if they are exactly the same.

Will the joints connect up correctly?1988GTU wrote:Why not swap the inner axle pods?
I thought the joints were different?

Re: Transmission spline count?
You can if you have the pod. That's what I'm doing. But I'm starting to wonder if the 90 trans is the same as the 96 I'm using... I'll count the splines but iirc mine is more that 34 on the passenger side.

Re: Transmission spline count?
96 beretta and 96 60e-HD drivers side is 35 and the 60e-HD diff I have is a 39 tooth spline on the passenger side. Stock beretta yes is 34.
Oh and just a FYI... Eric Brennan was running mid 13's with his GT and a 3500 with a 3t40... So they can handle the power if you build them right.

That sounds good.

Re: Transmission spline count?
Hub splines on a Beretta are much smaller than the W-body cars, just to put the info straight. As for swapping-over the inboard tulips, well, I wouldn't count on it. Maybe, but I've done just enough custom axle work, swapping this to that and so on, that I can say not much matches anything else, even on GMs.1988GTU wrote:I was referencing the hub spline.
Going with a '96 Beretta, 4-speed auto:
But, I think the Beretta axle might just plug in to the GP transaxle -the right side inboard spline-count is 34 for the Berettas as well as both GP trans options, but overall shaft length is different GP 3-speed vs GP 4-speed vs Beretta.
Left side is also favorable for you, as the Beretta and the 4-speed GP axles use 35 splines with a female socket, while the 3-speed GP has 34 splines (again female).
I would talk to Asylum before counting on your TH125C (3T40) to handle the LG5, especially if you are going to do anything beyond leaving it stock -I don't recall if his trannys lasted for a really long time next to that 3500, and even if they did, do you want to invest in building that thing to last??? You are probably on the right track going with the TGP 4-speed, for what you are wanting from it. I would ditch the whole thing for a five-speed (or six), but that is just me.

Looking forward to seeing more on your build, looks like fun.
