Automatic trans, no?

TCC SOLENOID?  usually these go out differently and I really don't know if it could do this...

try unplugging that connector located in the FRONT [radiator side] of transmission on the top... 5 wires is it?  just unplug it and retest.  This disengauges the torque converter clutch in auto trans cars.

gas mileage will be killer since the converter will not lock up, but it will suffice until fixed.  besides, auto cars won't lock up until near top gear anyway.

check fluid capacity.  , eng. running. park or Neutral, dipstick check...

When was the last time that transmission filter was changed?

I've heard of every 10k miles.  I've heard 30k miles.  transmissions are not finiky really, as long as the fluid is monitored... I once changed a van with 130k for the first time!  lots of metal on that magnet inside, but man, filter was slimy, but a change did it good.  Clogged filters will cause erratic shifting, and sometimes no shifting.  Change this and I think you'll be okay.  Its rarely a bigger problem.  If it is, I'll help more on email.  If it is a bigger problem, then it gets expensive with a rebuild... I can help guide you on that too.
