I purchased a roll of header/exhaust wrap from www.aargear.com and got the 25ft roll for only $14.99, I called them before purchase to see if the wrap comes with fastening clamps, which is does not, and the nicest (english speaking) lady answered the phone - very friendly and perky.  

The price was amazing, shipping fast, and looks to be the same quality as the stuff that's $50 at Advance or from jcw.com.

What exactly does the header wrap accomplish?

Its for isolating heat.  On our cars, the crossover for example gets very hot, and on my car the intake cone sits right over it.
