Severe Bogging

The car is DUMPING gas. Literally. Its bogging down alot (driveable, but no power) and there are gasoline droplets coming out from the tail pipe. The car is rocking and rolling as if it were warmed up and loping.

I checked the injectors, and found one of them had 1.6 ohms, while the rest have 2.0 ohms. I replaced the lower resistance injector with one matching the other 3. This brought no success.

Now what the hell do I do? What would cause that much fuel to start dumping all of the sudden?

I've tried swapping ECM's, but I'm running out of options here. I have a brand new exhaust that I don't want to ruin.

oh, and the Mantapower chip I've been waiting for throws a check engine light. I'm so pissed right now.

Update:

I swapped in a spare FPR, and replaced the O2 sensor.

The stock chip is in and the engine is not throwing a code.

Its bogging still.

I pulled the spark plugs, checked them out and the gaps look fine, they are black with white tips.

Could this be an issue with the coil packs? Wouldn't that throw a code?

Double check that no fuel is coming out the vacuum hose of the fuel pressure regulator.

Coil packs will not throw a code.  I usually suspect the coil cover first, but it would not hurt to check the coils.  Most parts stores can check the ignition module.

I had the ignition module checked, and I replaced the coils.

Still having issues....

Could I have jumped a timing tooth?  The car idles O-K, but It bogs at anything above 1/3 throttle.  Not to mention the discharge out of the tailpipe. (man that sounds awful....)

How many miles are on the chain?  Many miles, then it can be jumping teeth due to worn guides/chain.

Does it have any smoke blowing out back?
Blue/Black/White  smoke?

If its blue, then you have oil issues.
If its black, then you have fuel issues.
You have 'blow by''for any of those problems.

If its white, well you'd know whats up with that...  Head gasket.

If you have fuel issues', then valves probably are not right, which can mean timing.  Or it can be injectors sticking open or plugs not gapped right or the motor just doesn't like what you put into it.
If you have oil 'blow by' then it could be rings, valves, timing could be at fault.

black smoke on start up but thats it.  Even then, it only does it once in awhile.

I assembled the motor with a fresh gasket set, some port work, full exhaust, and W41 cams. I drove i about 3 months (with a few mid-15 second passes at the track).

I drove it to work.  I went to lunch, then when I came out to drive back to work, the car showed all the problems I'm talking about.

Anyone in southeast MI can come take a ride/look if they are interested.

The car has been such an investment in time and energy I can't imagine scrapping it all now. ÂÂÂ It has only run 6 monthes out of the last year!  Mostly due to lack of time and being away at school, but this is getting to be frustrating.

The only time I ever had fuel in the exhaust was when an exaust valve was stuck (SB v-8).  Maybe you should check compression on all cylinders?  I was getting quite a bit of black smoke.

Sounds like a ring finally gave or valve had seen its last days.
Do the compression check then do a load test to see how much amps need to turn it over.

You never redid the valves I take it?

Freshly rebuilt cylinder head.

Should get around to the compression test today.

checked compression, fuel pressure.. ok there...

put in fresh plugs, vacuum lines, MAP sensor, Coolant Temp sensor....

Runs like a champ!

My best guess would be the plugs and MAP sensor did the trick.

back on the road!
