Finding new ways to fail in 2020!

I did find out that my o2 issue is from the ECM itself. Bypassing the o2 signal wire in the harness had zero effect, but swapping a spare ECM in fixed it. But shortly thereafter it ripped a rocker arm and its threads right out of the head. So I helicoiled it and reassembled. Couple days later it was ticking, so I took that one back apart, Loctited it, and went to the track.

Spent all day for One. Freaking. Run. It was packed and I couldn't even get through tech before the first test & tune run at 9. Waited until 12:30 to get my first run, and at 5:30 they shut down the track. Had two crashes and 3 oil downs. Waited around all day. Unreal.

So how did that one run go? Well, I tried a little bit more psi in the slicks to try and get just a tiny bit of spin and improve my 60' from the mid-1.9s I was getting with a dead hook. But it blew the tires right off and I had to get out of it and then back in the throttle with a 2.1 60. But it did run a best ever 101.1mph out the back, and the ET was still a 13.67. Which means 2 tenths off the 60' like I usually get and it should beat 13.47. One tenth in the 60 is usually good for almost 2 tenths in the quarter. That would put me in the 13.2-13.3 range.

I'll have some pics and one video coming, but I also had a hard drive crash...so it will have to wait until my computer is back going.

Here are some pics and video of the rocker arm debacle. It was #5, so the biggest possible pain in the ass of all of them. Was making a test rip on the street while datalogging (seeing if the modified lifters had any effect on VE) when it happened. So I hitched a ride home to grab my truck and trailer. I've been getting way more use out of that winch that I should. haha

Had my coworker make me a drilling guide to get the helicoil straight.

Also put in some Sealight LED headlights (same as I've had in my truck for a year). They're good stuff, and output is ridiculously good with my 4hi mod. Also got some generic H3s and 1156s to finish off the look.

Waverly got me a nice scrape on the fender, too! I had her in my arms getting ready to put her in the car seat when she gave the truck door a fling. Welp, paint sucks anyway I guess...

Put the car up for the year. Good riddance to 2020. It's gonna be outside in the snow since I need to work on the Camaro and my dad's garage is full of building materials for the addition on their house. But I put it on the trailer so it will at least be off the ground and out of the moisture.

Oh, and the old man RAMmed the mirror off in my driveway a few days before...just to send 2020 out with another smash. Now it doesn't have a "good side" anymore.

Had to unload the Beretta to go pick up my new project. But being the very last day of 2020...of course I forgot to bring the race ramps. Oh well. Adapt and overcome!

It did it! Finally.

Went to a track rental at Lebanon instead of an open test & tune. Twice the price, but I got a lot more runs than usual...totally worth it. Good to get some seat time and dial the car in. Worked flawlessly all day, I'm super happy with it. And I can finally say, I think that's all this setup has in it. 60's in the 1.8s with a clutch dump at 4500 and just a hair of wheelspin on the launch.

Stole the record from that stupid automatic of Brennan's that had more displacement, more cam, more compression and more gear. haha

Here's a few pics. Video to come.

Took me longer to break it than I thought it should, but I'm happy to finally get there. What kind of 60's did you run? Cause you trapped higher if I'm not mistaken.

Sweet spot for the launch turned out to be a 4500rpm clutch dump with the slicks at 15psi. It spun just a little bit but drove out of it under full power. I don't think drag radials would recover like that. Even the slicks I had to lift a little to let them recover when I tried them at 18psi.

My 60' were usually in the 1.85-8 range but that was with damn near perfect gearing, the right (FA) converter and drag radials that almost never spun leaving at just off idle. Top end was 99 -100 most runs.

I check in every now and then. I only had an 88GT for a few months a long time ago, but I still think they're cool!

I've been reading! Haha! I've also been kinda scared to see what you are planning, I sorta knew it was coming (you said some things a while back...). Yeah, should be good, I am looking to hear back on that LS7 cam... But dang, so much upgrading already on the 60-degree, rear disc, etc etc... Hate to see it go. What about, you know, just picking up ANOTHER Beretta??
