i was recently working on my car and i jacked it up in the air to get under it. i was on the ground and did not feel like getting up to pull the emergency brake. that was a bad idea. so i asked my friend to pull it up for me. so he proceeds to pull it up the whole way and i mean the whole way. he pulled it so far that i heard something break when he did it. needless to say it no longer works. i didnt look yet to see what is was. i was hoping someone would know what it was and know how to fix it so i dont waste my time ripping my car apart. if this helps i have a 95 z26. thanks for the help.

Well untill you get under the car there is NO way to tell what broke... The e-brake is made up of three cables. Main, Left and right side. So we cant tell you what to look at anymore than you can guess... The best advice is well um start from the back since thats the cables that are exposed to the elements. Also its not a result of your friend pulling the handle all the way up that broke it, its the fact the car is 14yrs old. crap happens.

Both rear cables are available from Napa once you find which one broke, I'm not sure about the front. I just had to replace my rears and the equalizer.

Cake. But rust can make it a pain.
