Hey there peeps.....happy to join you guy.....(and gals)

Well here is my situation.....

I bought a 96 Z26 about 5-6 years ago at an auction. It was hit from behind. (Actually I only had to change the tail lights).

About a week after I bought I noticed that the VIN on the dash board was missing. I then went to check the one on the side where the door closes and it did not have the sticker either, BUT IT DID HAVE replacement VIN tag Placed by the police dept., highway patrol, or another law agency. (I just can remember which one)

A couple of months back, my wife was driving the car when she got hit on the back drivers side. Nothing bad happened to her and all was good. The insurance paid for the damage, so I took it to the shop. Since it was going to be fixed on th drivers side, I made it clear to the shop about the vin number, and it the whole side was to be removed, to save the part where the vin was placed by the police.

....well......I got the car back, and forgot to check the vin......a couple of weeks went by when I notice that my car has NO VIN NUMBER anymore.

So I check with the shop, and find out that they replaced the whole side, and the side that they took out (with my VIN number)went to the scrap yard.

Now I am stuck with a car with NO VIN number.......

My ? is.....

Where are the additional hidden and o secret VIN numbers at? I dont want to be driving around with a car with no VIN. I would like to know the location of them in case I get pulled over, I decide to sell the car, or just plain know where they are.

Thanks for the help!!!

:D :D :D

Do you have a title? Do you have insurance? do you have a registration??? Um all of those have the vin number written on it... I would take the car to a DMV location OR to the proper law agency and ask them how you go about getting a replacement vin tag to fix this.

Other than that, if you pull up the carpet stay on the drivers side and then pull the carpet down I think its near the drivers side floor pan, there should be a factory vin tag... But I'm guessing this may not match what you have since it sounds like the original one was replaced at one time.

let me go double check that location for you, and get a pic if I can.

Kewl...........

I actually got pulled over once..........The cop made me locate a the vin number on the car.......I spent about 35 minutes going crazy all over the car trying to look for one.....

I couldnt find it.......and after about 45 minutes he let me go....(probably out of pity).....

But that is nice to now........Thanks for the heads up......They told me that there is one in the firewall and on the inner part of the fender.....Well, I never did find them, and to this date I haven't..... :(

:D :D

Thanks!!
