i have a 89 sunbird turbo and i scanned it with my snap on and i got The ESC sensor came up any ideas would that be the ignition control module? any ideas would be appreciated. This car was a 50$ investment so nothing to spectacular about it.

Oh man, I know this one.

I BELIEVE its the crankshaft position sensor which is also known as the Electronic Spark Control sensor.  Tells the ECM where the engine is in the rotation so it knows when to fire the plugs.  Should only be $18 or so to replace if I remember correctly.

im just parting this car out so i dont want to sink a-lot of money into it if you know anyone looking for a turbo 2.0 and 5 speed manual combo let me know. Also i was just looking on Napa online and autozone and this car does not have a crankshaft positioning sensor replacement since it has a distributor could it be the electronic ignition control module inside? the engine will kick once and a while but not all the time and you have to pump the throttle to get it to kick.

the ESC is kinda like a ing module for some of the older engines with or with-out distributor..  try getting a new one or finding a good used one..
