Hi everyone, first time posting here-

A friend recently bought a 1990 Beretta 6-cyl auto asphalt oval track enduro car. I've been doing some research to learn more about these as my expertise in more with rwd. Suprised to find out no one makes racing springs for these- I want to see if maybe I can use springs from a different car.

Does anyone have a set of springs lying around where they could measure the inside diameter of the pigtail ends, both front and rears? -Eric

Do they have to be stock hight?

they can be stock or aftermarket, should all be the same. I'm looking into using springs from a 70's GM rwd car for the rear, they have a 2.5" id on the lower pigtail end.

I should have said: Can you use aftermarket springs? Moog makes some that are "stock", but lower. Eibach, Intrax and Cannuck also make springs for these cars. As for the measurements I can't help on that, sorry.

well, I found in the suspension archives here back in 2001 that Eibachs are only rated at 230 lbs. I cant understand how a 3000 lb car can use such light spring rates. Another friend of mine races SCCA w/ a fwd Mazda, his car only weighs 2600 lbs and he runs 500 lbs in the front and 600 in the rear.

Theres another beretta, even has a beretta sticker on the windsheild.

Heres the deal, I think I have a set of beretta springs in my back yard. I will look next weekend when I go home and try to get you the specs you need.

That kind of racing looks so fun.

Is that a z24 sideskirt your running?

Is the vent in the hood hooked up to the air intake?

as far as the side skirts go, you guys would know better than me- they were on the car when he bought it

MpB- the hoods are chained/bolted shut so that vent is just a place for the track crew to put a fire extingusher nozzle in if there is a underhood fire

it just depends on where to cut, you dont want to cut into the understructure and weaken the hood
