I'm back

I was on the old board when I had a 93 gt with a 3.4 cam nitrous ect...
That car was stolen in 2004. I wanted another since but marriage kids, well you get the picture.
My wife was searching Craigslist and found a 1996 Beretta.
It turned to be a 96 with the appearance and performance package in other words a Z26 without the graphic or the insurance rate.
It only has 11500 on the od.
It drives like it's new. I only paid 2450.
I really love my wife for this one.
I also found another base 1996 with a 3.1 for parts ($800).
I already found a van with a running j code 3.4 that was hit in the back bought that engine and trans for 100.
So I'm off and runnin again!!!
Also good parts site. http://www.mantapart.com/2831v6.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And 1.6 rocker arms from comp cams http://www.compperformancegroupstores.c ... V466Rocker" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is one of the best easy gain mods for the cars in my opinion.

Welcome back.

Two things, Stay away from Mantapart... they are a lost cause for our cars, And 1996 3100 engines also already have 1.6 ratio rockers on them, so the comps are a waste. The best thing to do now is get a 3100 or 3400 large bore intake set, with heads, and put that on the 3100 block, that should free up 15-20hp. Or you could do 3500 heads and 3500 lower intake with a 3100 or 3400 large bore upper and it would all go in factory, and you would gain on the better flow patterns of the 3500 heads.

Take a stop over at 60degreev6.com and wot-tech.com THAT'S where you want to do your business when it comes to these Engines. Ben is a very smart guy and has LOTS of things going on with performance companies, such as Comp taking over our cam grinding and offering us tons of roller profiles.

Very nice car. There has been some modifications to the car (tinted windows, blacked bowtie and filler panels), so I would either bet the Z26 decals have been removed, or the previous owner added the Z wheels and ground effects. It has Z seats, so I'd be pretty sure the Z26 decals were just removed.

Nice find though, especially if the mileage is accurate. I'm a sucker for black Z's though... here's a pic of my old car:

The decals were likely just removed. No big deal. They can be kinda tacky. The appearance and performance package is RPO Z26.

And AVOID MANTAPART AT ALL COSTS!!

Comp rockers are a waste of money as well. As Jon pointed out you already have 1.6 rockers! No performance gain there.

WOT-Tech is where you want to spend your money if you are looking at performance upgrades.

But welcome to the mayhem.

Wow what a find! Talk about a dream!
Check out WOT-Tech, they are the best and Ben is a nice guy(also very helpful). Be sure to look at this http://wot-tech.com/shop/articles/choos ... at_64.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Keep in mind that the 3500 does have a bigger bore when using those heads on a 3100/3400. The Comp rockers will get you a little more lift over the stock 1.6 rockers. They don't flex like the stamped steel ones, but there's not much of a gain. Also I think you would need self aligning ones and not the normal ones. Your rockers are not roller tip, but are roller folcrum.

I would bet it's 115000 miles. Unless its been sitting outside for a few years with a grandma owner and then sold to a kid that did the tint, tip, black bowtie and he only had it like 2 months before selling it that mileage could not be acurate.

I say do a carfax on the vin, see what the last few inspection and registrations come up with for mileage.

Could have easily rolled back the ODO too... I've done it multiple times.

I seen this car somewhere, I can't remember exactly where, but if I remember correctly it was for sale in Oklahoma, and the mi. is 115k not 11k. probably just a mistake on madpaupers part there.

Nice find! Regardless of the mileage, you really can't go wrong with 115k either at 14 yrs old! Welcome back, and glad that we were just too addictive to stay away!

Ooops yeah ur right in the excitement I left off a zero. The mileage was 115363 to be exact.
Thanks for the steer to wot.
I used to get alot of good stuff from manta part but all good things must come to an end.
Here's a thought a freind is an insurance agent he says I can pickup a 3500 complete through him for 250.00 on his discount. So what my question is has anyone done this swap and are there pictures and how much modding is required.

There are a few guys here that have one, but I don't know why they have not posted as of yet. Guess that they are too busy. That is a good price on that engine. How many miles are on it?

It's got 65000 with documented service at all required intervals. Here's the kicker when I got there to buy the engine I was told I had to take the tranny to. All for 250. I already turned it over for 1300. So I think I'm gonna have to get another. Aw shucks lol.
