whats the deal with posts being approved?

how long does it take anyways?
It happens as soon as I, or another moderator looks over the posts you make. It only happens for your first 5 posts.
It keeps the spam off this site, as we get hit almost DAILY with random crap, but nobody is exposed to it because we remove it before it becomes public
