Is there a way to test them? Solonoid 2 and 3 failure. Would love to grab one at the yard vs paying 100 from rockauto. Is it also possible to use a 96+ cylinder type looking ones? Quite a few of each at the yards.

No the 96 pig tail is not the same. My book said that there is seven possible combinations of the three valves(of opening that is). Not knowing what those are make it hard to test.

Take it apart and clean the pistons and put some antiseize on the shafts. That may help it.
