I have a 1990 beretta and the cloth ceiling is falling down, I have the glue to pput it bacj up I am just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on a good way to do take this down to streach it back across tightly...

Good luck with that. What sort of glue did you get? Problem is, the foam backing on the fabric is what deteriorated. All you are going to do is glue loose junk foam together and it won't stick. Not to mention the material the headliner is made of is extremely fragile. Just removing it from the car can cause it to break up and crumble. Its like a layered fiberweave similar to fiberglass without much "resin" holding the fibers together. It was made to serve a dual purpose. Act as insulation and adhere to the fabric, as well as be thin and light. Very very difficult to fix or repair properly.

One reason why I never tell anyone or have anyone try to clean a headliner, especially on an older vehicle. It causes the aged foam to start breaking down and coming apart. So far I have been fortunate with mine, it still looks and feels good.

I have this problem with mine and all the ones I've seen at the junkyard too. I picked up some fiberglass resin to soak the fiberboard with and then reupholster. Will it work? I don't know...but I am going to give it a try.

let me know if it works woody i need to redo mine but i have the start of it braking..... i can get it out but i dont wanna get it going in and it brake on me.

You CAN'T save it!

Pull it down and re-do it.

Anything else is just a waste of time and money.

Cost me $140 to have mine re-done professionally, but you could probably do it yourself with new material for under $50-$60

You can buy headliner material at most fabric stores and the correct heat bearing glue.

But it is really just worth having it done by a pro with a warranty.

Had mine redone and love it. No problems now! I'll never fight with one again. Just wish I would have paid extra to have the sun visors done(well one of the mirrors is broken and that killed the idea).

It's not the headliner fabric that is usually the problem. The three that I've tried to take apart and redo all had issues with the board itself under the fabric coming apart in pieces. I spoke with the professional who stitched my seats and he said it's almost impossible to save it...you have to re-create your own board out of new material, which is very difficult with the curvature.

Yeah Woody my 83 Z28 had that problem. I'd drive it on the highway with the windows down and have yellow dust all over me. I was told there was no point in trying to put a new headliner on.

Yes Eric I've seen Barrys headliner in photos. It's kind of wacky.
