I bought a new laptop in Chicago that has Windows 7 Home Premium.

Of course it didn't come with Office.

I have the Windows Office XP 2002 discs here that I bought a couple of years ago for my PC.

Will they work without messing anything up?

Who said anything about Bootlegging? My work pays for a Tech-net subscription so I get all Microsoft software for free. I agree if you have nothing Open Office is ok, but its not the easiest thing to use.

And honestly, ANYONE who has a PC based job, or business should have a tech-net subscription. The price isnt bad for the online only version (if you have highspeed internet) and you can get full OS's for free and any and all other Microsoft software, never expiring licenses too.

I never said anything about anyone posting here bootlegging. I was talking about free vs paying anything.

Tech subscriptions last time I checked were like 250 bucks a year. Sorry but despite the fact that I do a lot of computer work, I have not felt that investment was worth my while. Most of the solutions that I can't figure out, I use google for, or search the online MS database.

Not to mention, the last 3 versions of MS office were given to me for free from MS. Got a copy of 2003 from Microsoft in the mail, with their compliments, got a copy of 07 from the 07 seminar in Detroit for free, and the other was an older version of 2k Office that came with an MS release of 2k Pro that I got for attending a seminar. 2010 is installed on my laptop, but as a trial at the moment.

I like to work legit channels, but don't like paying for the software that I usually end up troubleshooting for them. LOL

So yeah, signing up for tnet is a nice program, but you are not really getting the stuff free, just getting them as part of the service. Just that so far I have not had the need for that.

Again, I was not singling anyone out here. Just saying that too many look for free stuff, and open office IS free. Not to mention completely forwards and backwards compatible with MS stuff. I use it a lot for many of my customers actually. Just have to set a few things in the save features so it defaults to MS file types when saving. Easy. Or use save as and save it as the ms file type you want.
